I'm a much bigger fan of Wilson than most here. I wasn't particularly upset with the new england game, as 1 interception was just a pass that was a tad high ( not poor placement) and another was supposed to be out of bounds. Of course i was upset the jets didn't win, but ZW is still in learning mode. I've seen every great QB play since otto Graham and they all throw interceptions. JD had his choice of QB when they drafted Wilson. Surely they spent countless hours examining and debating what to do. He knew this decision was the most important of his football life. I hoped ZW would be in the middle of the QB pack by the end of the year...the middle third, between 10 and 20. That would be great development fpr a second year guy. A dinosaur like me has seen many QB sit for a year or 2 before playing. Wilson was thrown out there into a terribly confused team last year. So, a 5-1 record with continued progress in his second year gives me a good feeling
He’s definitely a keep piece. An absolute mauler. I see no reason to switch him out. I really think Jets management will consider Moving AVT full time to OT next year ….
As much as I loved Sauce I wanted Thibideaux. After watching our defense last year I thought our biggest problems was our failure to stop the run. That no longer seems to be the case.
Can I add Nate Herbig to your list? He is a mauler and has really brought some stability to that OL. Great offseason waiver claim.
Not too toot my own horn but I called the Sauce pick brilliant. What made it brilliant was, very simply, the Jets failure to sign Tyreek Hill and subsequent signing by division rival Miami. Hill (and Diggs) had to be neutralized if the Jets were to compete in the division. Now the pick was not only brilliant but Einsteinian based on Sauces play so far.
But if he does prove to be “that guy” we may be in for a decade of dominance. It’s so satisfying to finally see JD’s plan coming to fruition. There were a lot of skeptics regarding how he was going about the rebuild but I think he’s removed most of that doubt now.
Yep. I wanted KT. Still think he's gonna be a beast but I'm not complaining about Sauce. Dude is better than advertised.
He’s clearly grown and gotten better at his job since being brought in. Some things he was already good at. Much like the QB it was worth letting him make some mistakes and learning from them. Hopefully the QB gets better. Would make him an A plus GM.
I think he's earned the right to take another shot at QB if Zach ends up not getting the job done. Hopefully its not something he has to worry about. This is a legitimate contender if Zach makes a big jump. The amount of talent he's brought to this team through all avenues has been great. He's built an elite defense, and brought in a great group of offensive players as well. Super impressed with the job he's done.

I don't see Douglas using a high draft pick on a QB in 2023, even if Zach sucks the rests of 2022. IMO, though, Zach has NOT shown enough or even close to enough for the jets to pick up his option year or even consider a second contract yet. I still don't see Zach getting a second contract with the jets unless he shows marked improvement.
This season is all about setting up next season and beyond. This team is poised to be very good moving forward. I'll get try not to get too upset about this season if they punk out more than I expect in the end based on present performance but I think the team is suddenly collectively focused, a team, "Aha!" I think Joe Douglas' most significant initial accomplishment out of the gate was getting the Brothers Idiot to concede to being uninvolved in FB Operations. Look at the fruit that one thing alone has borne in the now. Other than that, his first year as GM is in his rearview mirror as it should be. I can't see how this train goes backwards. And speaking of trains, fck you, Jamal. I hope you enjoyed your one-way ticket to Palookavile. Choo! Choo!
And, thank you Jamal (and seattle) for the Vera-Tucker/Garret Wilson talent Joe D was able to acquire off your self-absorbed, over-valued ass. p.s. Sauce Gardner: already the dude you never wuz, prez...
I think JD still has to roll up his sleeves and do some work extending some of our current contracts. Now that we are past the trade deadline this would be a good time to extend some players before the price goes up. Here are the guys that are up in the next two years: 2023 QB Mike White QB Joe Flacco RB - James Robinson FB - Nick Bawden LT - George Fant C - Connor McGovern G - Nate Herbig G - Dan Feeney RT - Mike Remmers DT - Sheldon Rankins OLB - Quincy Williams ILB - Kwon Alexander OLB - Bryce Huff S - Lamarcus Joyner K - Greg Zurlein 2024 WR Corey Davis WR Braxton Berrios WR Denzel Mims LT - Duane Brown DE - Carl Lawson DT - Quinnen Willaims S - Jordan Whitehead P - Braden Mann Clearly some of these guys will be replaced in the draft and free agency but the ones who have proved themselves should be locked up sooner than later.
Hey guys, to let you in on a little secret. The Jets are already contenders. We have just as good a chance to make the big dance as anyone else. Obviously, we have to take care of business the rest of the season and get in the playoffs. If we make the playoffs this team has as good a chance as anyone barring critical injuries. We are built to win in January.
