Ugh...I dunno whether to be excited or upset. I would be a little skeptical of passing up on Reggie Bush even though I desperately want a franchise QB.

I would HOPE the deal would go something like this...

    Jets give:
    #4 overall pick
    John Abraham
    3rd Round pick

    Texans Give:
    #1 overall pick

NOT a weak arm...just not a super strong arm like Carson Palmer.

I sure hope so if we take him.

Yikes, I don't like that one bit. If the Jets trade up, it has to be for Reggie Bush. I'd still prefer staying at #4 or, better yet, trading down.

I would have to give major props to the Jets though for being aggressive in whomever they drafted.

Not really. If the Jets ACTUALLY have a hard on for Leinart they would have to leap frog the Saints to get him.

Yuck no offense Penny but IMO that deal would kill us. Abe and the 4th at most.

As for Leinart having a weak arm thats not a concern of mine, because its not true. His deep ball is just fine. He cant chuck it 80 yards, but he has at least enough arm strength for the 50 yard bomb, enough to get it to the receiver. And his accuracy is unparalled. Remember all the media buzz last year after his bowl game when people were saying theyd take him even over Carson Palmer? That mayve been a bit of a stretch, but hes nonetheless still the best QB since Peyton Manning IMO. As for having a weak arm, Tom Brady held the same label HIS first few years in the league as well, and look how he turned out. Peyton Manning dosent have the strongest arm in the league either. Bottom line: Leinart is a proven winner and I would take him over Bush anyday

Good post. I agree with everything you said. He certainly has the accuracy. He kinda reminds me of Kurt Warner when he first came into the league. Kurt had some amazing accuracy until he had that thumb injury.

Feh, I'd have to see what we give up. We CAN'T be given up a boat load of picks. #4, Abraham, and a 4th this year and/or 3rd next year. That's the most I would give up.

Keep in mind we would have the chance at one of the two USC boys...this caliber of players is not in every draft. We will have to give up an obscene amount to go up and get Leinart or Bush.

Your trade proposal wasn't much different then mine.

    4th overall, Abe and a 3rd rounder

    for #1

I don't think any player in the NFL Draft is worth giving up an obscene amount for. Especially with all the holes we have. If you're telling me we would trade Abraham, #4, and a 3rd or 4th for Leinart (I don't think we'd take Bush), then I would probably do it. But I'm not giving up a 2nd in there, or a 1st next year.

I agree...a second rounder this year or a first rounder next year would be BAD...

Matt would probably be the pick I agree...

I still think we shouldnt be giving up that 3rd. Abe and the 4th for the #1 is what I would give, not much more, take it or leave it. But I still think everything depends on what we do with Pennington. I still think we should be trading down, but should we trade up Ill support the move

I honestly don't think Pennington will have anything to do with a possible move.

The problem with that is, there will probably be another team (or more than one other team) that really wants Leinart or Bush, and will give up more. Just looking at one NFL pick value chart, the #1 pick is rated as 3000 points, and the #4 pick is rated as 1800 points. Do the Texans feel that Abraham is worth 1200 points (which would be the 12th pick in the draft)? Also, the team trading up historically ends up giving up more points than what this chart (and I'd assume most charts) say. That's where our 3rd round pick (approximately 250 points), and maybe a 3rd or 4th next year (about 200 points) comes into play.

If they take Leinart at number 1 I will go postal! If you trade to the number 1 stop and don't take push, then we are just idiots.
