I'm telling you it was a no doubter. The referees ruled correctly pursuant to the way the penalty is written in the rulebook and the way the contact went down between Wayne and Miller.
That beer bottle came about 7 inches from hitting the ref who called the interference right in the head.....
it may not have been called if he didnt do it right in front of the ref. ive seen more than a few of those that havent been called this season. i know the rules are a lot tougher on the db's now, and im not doubting your knowledge of the rulebook....i just thought that it was one of those if it wasnt right in front of the official, it may not have been called.
In that situation, you have to let the players play and let them determine who wins the game. The referee calling a touchy penalty there just screws with the outcome of the game. But the bottom line is that our D had 2 chances to stop the Colts, and failed both times.
Are you talking about the Wayne play? He was armbarred. Miller did impede his ability to run at top speed. I can understand why some of you have an issue with the penalty. Wayne almost blocked the violation from view. A camera angle from the other side of the field would have been much better. It wasn't a touchy penalty. As far as whether or not people like that rule, that would be something different. I think it is a good rule. Otherwise, defensive backs would put an arm out in front of receivers often. We'd go back to deadball era football like we had in 1977. It would become too difficult to complete passes.
There was plenty of doubt on that play. The receiver pushed off on Miller. IMO, any call that should have been made - if any - was offensive interference. Otherwise, it's a no call.
It was a bad call and it would have been 3rd and 20 but do you think our horrendous D would have stopepd them anyway? and we got the lead back and had a chance to stop them again and failed, bad call but it didn't cost us the game.
watching Payton play football is like watching Jordon play basketball...they both get and got away with murder
WoW. Just WoW. People are actually arguing the validity of the call? Are you people serious? It was interference. Period. And it was smart by Miller. He was beat on the play. That was an absolutely sure TD if he didn't interfere. You cause interference there as a DB because it at least it gives the rest of the D another chance to stop them. If he doesn't do that, it's a sure 7. It was almost a TD with the interference. As far as it being questionable, he made contact with the receiver with his back to the ball. How can that even be questionable? If you want to complain about calls, complain about the multiple offsides the Colts D had all day that weren't flagged. Complaining about this call is just silly.
RedWhiteBlue&Green and nyjunc- What more do you want? The play was defensive pass interference. Watch the re-air on Tuesday night. There is NO QUESTION Miller extended his arm across Wayne's body. Then Wayne's right hand made contact with Miller's left shoulder and that does not matter because Miller had already been guilty of interference. This is an open and shut case.
I hope he was beaten by fans around him, I hate morons like that. hopefully security got him and he spent the night in jail. Why do these fans have to act like idiots?????
hey, something we agree on nyjunc..even better revoke the season tickets of the person who owns those seats..know your buyer..hell this is Ny..we don't act like drunk pat's fans!!
At the time I was pretty Drunk, so I thought it would have been funny to see the ref get hit. But now in a Sober state I agree that he should have been kicked out. What if he hit a little kid??
I saw that again last night on a better camera angle, on the re-play. He was NOT armbarred. Miller was running and had inside position, his head back on the ball, and his arm OUT to feel Wayne running by him, Wayne FROM BEHIND MILLER grabs Millers shoulder with his RIGHT HAND, and pulls miller than pushes off him. that was a lousy call, it should have been offensive pass interference.
Arm barred? That was the quick reaction call from Dierdorf. Anyone who Was at the game or rewatched the game clearly saw there was NO Armbar. He was holding his hand out to "feel" where the Receiver was. It was Wayne who was stiff arming him from behind and at one point actually grabbed his shoulder. I'm right with you Hobbes.....
Last night with the camera angle showing from behind it was as clear as day. also with a better camera angle you can see that POS Brandon Moore-on blow the block on the 4th and one that SHOULD have allowed Pennington to moonwalk his way into the End Zone. We need a RG next year.
Chad never would have been able to run in the EZ on the short side of the field, a Colts defender would easily have run him down.
The lane was wide enough to park two hummers in.And angled toward the corner. the only close defender was the one Moore was Unable to sustain a block on
he never would have made it, ther were 2 Colts down near the GL. Even if Moore gets there in time and Chad sprinted to the EZ he never would have made it.
