I think the Jets should definetly look at spending a late round pick on a QB WR convert in the draft that can run the wild cat. A big guy like Brad Smith or Tebow that can break some tackles and could also make a throw now and then. While I think it would be great to have Tebow in the Brad Smith role I see two problems with it. One is he will want to be a starter and two the fans will be calling for him to start the first hiccup Mark has. Better to leave the distraction of Tebowmania to another team.
Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter Here's one other team that has discussed trading for Tim Tebow, even if it is considered a longshot: the Jets.
if he's the wildcat/3rd string QB then I'm ok with it. as long as it's no more then a 7th rounder. no way would I want him as our backup though. he's like the emergency QB, lol.
Could just be trying to jack up the price for the Pats, or maybe the OP's idea wasn't so crazy after all.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/20/jets-consider-trading-for-tim-tebow/ NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "Tebow in a Jets uniform would also be fun to see because when Tebow and Antonio Cromartie are on opposite sides of the ball in practice, it would be the first instance in NFL history of the defensive player being the one who needs to wear the red jersey."
In theory if the Jets got Tim Tebow then Tebow would assume the role Brad Smith had when he was here. It's intriguing...
god please nooo... noooooo... god.... noooooooooo Tebow is a winner but I think Sanchez has much better QB skills.
YES. HAHAHAA. We get a QB who has a chance to break 1000 yards passing or rushing. Seriously he would be perfect for the kind of offense Sparano and Rex Ryan want to run, these Jets are bringing back the single wing!!!!!
The problem I see is if Sanchez gets off to a bad start in the beginning of the season, the media will have a FIELD DAY around this team clamoring for Tebow. Just feel the potential risk doesn't outweigh the possible reward (wildcat player a la Brad Smith)
"Teams that have discussed a trade for quarterback Tim Tebow, either internally or with the Denver Broncos, include the Jacksonville Jaguars, Green Bay Packers, Miami Dolphins and New York Jets, a league source said." http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7...s-eyeing-denver-broncos-tim-tebow-source-says
