How does somebody keep his job after going 0-2 in the preseason?

Who would you say is the best player in camp that might be available? It's not likely to come from another teams cuts. My guess is that they gave Hunter one potentially last look at starting yesterday, and now will go with Howard as a starter next week. It's not likely that Wayne will be released because Tanny gave him a guaranteed 2.5 million, or so. To me, as a lifelong Jets fan, this is very troubling for this upcoming season. I think the RT situation is by far, the worst issue this team has, and I don't see a reasonable solution, unless Howard comes thru.

What I've been saying for a long time! Last night on the way home from the game, I heard on ESPN radio that Tannenbaum is not a football guy, but a cap specialist. WTF? We need a football guy as GM. Let the Jets' Accounting Department worry about the cap details! Now Tanny is on the phone looking for training camp rejects from other teams??? He should have been working the phones since January!!! No, Tebow was all he concentrated on. Oh, and offense "genius" Sporano. The Jets O line is actually worse than last year, which most scientists agreed was impossible! Woody must clean out the front office. All talk and no team does not get the job done on the field.

Since Parcells left, Woody hasn't hired a single established HC but instead, has tried to catch lightning in a bottle with Edwards, Mangini, Ryan. Same for the GM position. Apparently, Tannenbaum completely convinced a naive Owner that he was a much better candidate for GM than any available GM with a winning track record. Just shows you what we got driving the crazy train that is the NYJ's.

We can only hope that should a housecleaning happen, Woody goes with an established GM with a proven resume who in turn, hires an established HC with a record of accomplishment. No more first time guys please. This team absolutely needs a different direction to head towards as I fear the direction they're on is headed towards a dead end. Especially in a pass oriented league.

    1. Jets roster is lacking veteran leadership. Like... real serious. Someone up there systematically disposed of these leadership quality players one by one, WITHOUT replacing that.

Oh, I never know Rex Ryan had such an authority to do such.

    2. Jets stay competitive only because of Ryan's presence. Hell, give this defensive roster to any defensive coordinator and see if HE puts out similar production. (I bet it is not happening.) In other words? THIS TEAM IS NOT COMPETITIVE TO START WITH. Look at last off-season for crying out loud. They could go get Braylon Edwards for cheap and draft OT at round 2. (Surely would have helped a lot, won't you think?) No. Not happening.

I am not even bitching about Braylon not coming (someone else named GMCJET is doing that already); you need to look at the bigger picture, no? Jets had a huge hole at starting RT, safety and a split end. There WERE resources and opportunities out there to address these, and they have been CONSISTENTLY ignored. Whose fault is that? That falls on Ryan, right? And Sanchez, right? Yeah. I knew I could count on these two fuckers.

    3. Now, with the cap status as it is, the next thing I expect out of this team is a spike year. Hopefully, T-Bomb is demoted to the bean counter that he is by then.

Really, your solution is to hire Charley Casserly? Did you not see the first 6 years of the Houston Texans?

To quote Bill Belichick: ""Who's been wrong more than Charley Casserly since he left the Redskins? Wherever he's been, whatever he's done, his percentage is like a meteorologist...at least he put his name on it and I'll put my name on it and say, like he usually is, he's 100-percent wrong.""

In my opinion Rex deserves as much if not more blame than Tannenbaum. Sure Tanny is in charge of player personnel, but Rex is ultimately responsible for the product on the field.

How Rex could have looked at our offensive and special teams situations and said, "We can win with this," is beyond me. He should be hounding Mike T. every fucking day to do something about these glaring holes in our team.

Clearly he didn't think that we could win with Hunter, otherwise we wouldn't have tried to upgrade.

The fact that the "upgrade" couldn't even pass a physical falls on Tannenbaum.

That said, the book isn't closed on the Jets roster quite yet. It's a little late to find an all-pro, but a few useful linemen should hit the market before week 1 (Bryant McKinnie and Brian Waters both signed in August last year, for example.) Improving on Hunter is a low fucking bar, I'd like to imagine that Tanny can find someone (even if he's still a liability, it can't get worse than Hunter.)

    Braylon Edwards: Hill & Schillens
    Damien Woody: Agreed
    Cotchery: Kerley
    Richardson: Connor
    Brad Smith: Tim Tebow
    Hartsock: (he was good?) Cumberland
Turner (big difference maker here lol): Vlad Ducasse
LT: Greene is taking the #1 role, plus LT was not a big factor in 2011. Mcknight is a similar player. I gotta stick with youth at RB here.

This team is more like 2010 than 2011. Obviously there are still ?s. Hunter is the biggest one. I know he's not an adequate replacement for Woody.

Mr. T. is one of the best GMs in the business, he took the Jets to 2 AFCCGs and he is signed through 2014. Only a moron would even think about firing Mr. T.

The only part of this team that Rex has control of is the defense. Go figure, the best unit on the team. He doesn't sign the offensive guys and he doesn't run the offense.

But that's Rex's problem Sanchez is a joke and our idiot sold the farm for him in Rex's first year? LOLOLOL.

You have to start wondering about Rex and Tanny's ability to judge talent. Are they that deceived by Hunter's ability?

How high a draft pick would you guys surrender to get a top notch replacement for Hunter?

I think Tanny loves getting rid of the players Jets fans like. He also seems to keep around the ones we dislike.

    Likes

Thomas Jones- runs him out of town

Braylon Edwards- refuses to resign him instead signs oft injured Schillens

Jericho Cothcery- signs plaxico to be the number 2 receiver when Jericho could have filled
that role. He gets fed up and demands to be cut.

Damian Woody- trained hard to return to Jets for 11 season after season ending injury in the 10 season. Tanny decides that he won't resign Woody because Wayne Hunter was "better", Woody decides to retire.

Kyle Lowery- A tough player who has shown to be clutch at times, gets ran out of town.

    Dislikes

Eric Smith- proved to be worthless in the 10 season, Tanny decides to trade the best
safety in the roster Kyle Lowery, and keep Smith as the starter.

Wayne Hunter- played decent at the end of the 10 season, which somehow in Tannys eyes warrants him to be the starter, then he guarantees his contract for this year.

TJ Conley- tanny brings this guy back, but yet Weatherford struggles in the playoffs and Tanny is quick to give him the boot?
