After hearing the interview, I think he is looking to hire a coordinator type coach. He went out of his way to elaborate on all of the success of the rookie coaches this year.

He also mentioned Bill Callahan, as being a former college and pro coach, and also current assistant .

I hate Tanny's interviews...gives us some real answers douche. He's worse than a magic 8 ball.

He sounds like a politician...he's a genius, but not when he talks Jets business.

I got the same impression. If I had 2 guesses I say he would go the coordinator route and go Spagnola or he has Mariucci as a choice.

I expect the opposite....it's what Tanny usually does.

    I expect the opposite....that's Tanny's M.O.
Plus, our last coach was a coordinator.

I have a huge Feeling, we will be seeing either Callahan or Mooch.

If it is true that the Jets like a lot of thier own people.... Both would probably take the HC job, and retain most of the current coaches.

Firing mangini and promoting Callahan would be a HUGE downgrade.

Jesus, you guys are giving me an anxiety attack with this Callahan and Mooch talk.

At this point, just bring in Mike Leach and draft Graham Harrell. At least we'd be fun to watch and not even remotely predictable!

    Another rookie coach!?

Hasn't the Jets learned any lessons from the last 3 ( Grogh, Edwards, Mangini)?

I know it wasn't the reason for his being on the show, but I would have loved to hear Mike ask a question about Gholston!

That's one way of looking at it, and it's valid.

But the other way is valid too. DelRio, Mike Smith, John Harbaugh, Sporano, etc have all been successful early on. The Jags sucked this year but DelRio has built a solid, competitive team in a tough Division.

The same early success can be said of Mangini, and look what's happened. My big thing, is Mangini didn't show that he was learning from his mistakes as a Coach. The verdict is still out on the aforementioned coaches, but so far, they look good.

I actually had this feeling when they hired Callahan this offseason. Someone in the organization likes him very much, and he was basically put on the staff as an evaluator (my opinion when they brought him in). If this is the case, I have a bad feeling about this team going with good ol' Billy.

Also, when Woody said they have known they were going to do this for weeks, it kind of makes me think he had a "Plan B".

He sounded evasive and frankly did not inspire confidence in me that he knows WTF he is doing when it comes to picking and dealing with coaches.

you don't give anything away when it comes to choosing coaches, especially this early.... its the way the business is - you're a fan, you don't deserve anything. That's not my philosophy, its sports business.

Why do they need to trash him in the media and hurt his chances for future employment? Would you be happy if they said he lost the lockerroom, that he isnt good at handling players' different personalities, that he made too many bonehead decisions, that the team choked in december and his poor gameday coaching was apparent?

You are guilty of wanting the gotcha journalism that everyone has become accustomed to these days.

They handled this with dignity and didnt badmouth him, unlike the Vagina who felt the need to call out players in the press.
