Was at the game, great win... those HRs really fly out to right, even with the wind blowing in from CF tonight. I was very confused/annoyed at Girardi's decision to pull Hughes after 1 inning, and it seemed like a lot of the fans felt the same way
Yeah, Hughes looked great, and I thought they should've kept him out there. Cone and Kay actually made a good point ( hmy: ), though I don't necessarily think it justifies the move. They mentioned that Girardi might've taken him out so he could go out on a good note and build confidence in his first relief outing. Uh... I guess that makes sense, but you'd think that trying to win the game was just as, if not more, important. And Hughes probably gives you a better chance than just about anyone else in the pen.
While at the game, I figured he brought in Coke because of Carlos Pena. I didn't know Hughes vs. Pena numbers or Coke vs. Pena numbers, but the lefty-lefty matchup made sense. I just read that Carlos Pena was 2-for-3 against Hughes with 2 HRs, so I can't really hate on the decision
