I wish that were the case but if you're being honest with yourself you would know that Vick was never given an opportunity to compete for the job this year. They handed it to Geno because they wanted him to be the man. He's not.

I don't think you are wrong at all about the "competition" but I really hope you are wrong about Geno Smith. I'd much rather him turn out to be solid than have to turn to Vick to save Rex's job

Maybe, but still honestly I think at this point in their careers Geno is better. Vick has experience edge, but Geno is faster and more equipped for the younger faster NFL of today.

I am okay with this, if in fact the team ends up 8-8 or worse. I don't hate Rex but you have to admit he has had 5+ years now. I do think the issues with penalties, with lack of discipline and focus probably have something to do with him. Meanwhile Idzik is just getting started, he is planning long-term and I would like to see him get his chance. He engineered our cap space in order to be able to sign Wilk, Richardson and others who he feels represent long-term core guys.

I love how people say "Vick got beat out by Foles" lol

Foles is a very very good Nfl quarterback and while Vick may not have been as good, he sure as hell is better than Geno.

It's funny though because the people saying this are essentially saying that we have a better chance with Vick than Geno.

Do any of you belive Geno would have beaten out Foles? Because last I checked, Vick and Foles were in a tight race until Vick got hurt. Meaning Vick is light years better than Geno

we didnt run under center enough to run playaction effectively. most runs where out of shotgun and we did run 6 or 7 play fakes out of that formation.

why shouldnt idzik keep his job? your going to fire a GM after 2 years when you hired him to be GM of a team needing a 3-4 year rebuild?

the people who want Geno to start, dont want him to start because he is better then vick. it is irrelevant if he is better then vick. we want him to start to see what we have and see if he can improve from game 1 to game 16, and by how much, so we can tell if he is someone who we can hang on to or if we need to address QB again.

Vick is going to be 35. he isnt an option for this team moving forward. id be fine playing him if this was a 11-12 win type team with a dark horse chance to contend. we arent. we are a bad team. vick doesnt change that enough to warrant shelving seeing what we have in Geno 1 more year

QB's can play at a high level up to around 40 now with the rules the way they are. He's 34. You do the math. This no future with Vick narrative is nonsense. Seems to me we have no future with Geno since he blows horse cocks.

It seems like we are equipped to run the read option with Geno as a running threat, it works everytime we use it. I don't get it?

We have no quality guards on this team. I think it might be time to bench Winters. He's been bad. Colon looks washed up. I'm willing to give Colon a little more time but Winters needs to take a seat. We have average to above average tackles and a very good center.

Vick already has the miles on him, and already has shown an inability to stay healthy. decline with age is also a certainty, tom brady is showing signs of decline right now. pinning your hopes on a 34 year old to be your QB for the next 5 years is all kinds of horrible.

I have little faith in Geno, and I have n0 problem if he doesnt take another snap after this season. but its irresponsible not to give him the season and see what you have. going with vick pushes back an already lengthy rebuild. thats what terrible teams do. thats what GMs who are pressured by owners do.

benching geno will set htis franchise back big time, and we cant afford that

winters has been good so far this year. the tape tells the story. people bashing him just hate him for how bad he was last season. of all our lineman he is the least of our issues thus far

He has not been good. He was good in week 1. He was abused in weeks 2 and 3.

he wasnt abused in any game. he was beat once last night. he was beat once in green bay and had a few plays where he was pushed back a bit. but he was hardly bad in any game. he has been one of our best lineman this year. watch the all-22 tape if you can... NFL.com has a free promotion for it right now

I will check it out. But I also use Pro Football Focus and they have him rated horribly after week 1. In Green Bay he was poor in run blocking, and gave up a sack, a QB hit, and a hurry. Last night he gave up a hit and a hurry.

I like using PFF for positions like lineman cause its hard to watch them on every play like you can a QB, RB, and even receivers. But I will check out the all-22 tape.

There's nothing irresponsible about benching a guy that is hurting your football team and not taking care of the football. You're going to lose the team keeping a guy like that in the game.

    The Jets owe Geno nothing.

Going to Vick could work out in the short-medium term while we look for a young VIABLE replacement. No one said anything about pinning hopes on Vick for 5 years. It's just that dismissing him as a viable option because he's 34 and "has mileage" is complete bullshit.

Enjoy the cock sandwich Geno serves Sunday.

btw Brick was handling Allen all night save for 1-2 times...I didn't hear Allen's name much.

Mangold still is a beast...I don't wanna hear about those guys slowing down. Was Aboushi in the game at all?

I realize his sample size is rather small, but from what I see I'm not impressed.
I agree he has done a good job at making sure the team has plenty of cap space.
But making this roster better, leaves a lot to be desired.

As I said, this team looks no better than it did last year, if not worse.

You must have missed the plays where Allen was tossing Ferguson aside and just missing Smith.
