I think the QB is a big part of the problem here. The play calling isn't great but we have a guy just chucking it into traffic and hoping something good happens. It has to be terrifying as the OC there trying not to take points off the board. I wouldn't trust this kid.
Geno forced that pass and it was terrible. You can't tell me the kid isn't running for his life most of the game. The offensive line is shit, namely Winers and Colon gets caught for some reason making a lot of mistakes. MM, has to have some better plays in the redzone; where are the play action fakes; where is the ball faking in general (even out of shotgun we should be running read option where Geno can fake, get the defense to hesitate just for a second)? At this point in their careers, I don't think Vick is better than Geno; sorry.
lol, I think maybe you bumped your head after too many beers last night based on that last sentence. Three things: 1) Geno running for his life is not an excuse to throw the ball up for grabs. 2) Geno is very bad at executing play action. He doesn't even seem to make an effort to sell it. They did several PA passes last night and the effort put forth by Geno is laughable most of the time. 3) Yes, Marty needs to call better plays but I really think he doesn't trust Geno - and for very good reason.
Those calling for the offensive line, I have to disagree here - there were times where Geno held onto the ball TOO long. Marty last night, gave Geno an opportunity to gain that trust and Geno failed with the interceptions. Marty made some bad play-calls, but when you have a QB you don't trust what do you do? I wish he gave the ball more to Ivory.
The Jets defense is allowing almost nothing on the ground and they're doing pretty well against the pass also. If injuries don't decimate the squad I think the Jets will wind up a top 5 defense this season and I didn't think they were that good at the beginning. Antonio Allen is exactly what you want out of a CB. He's cheap, effective, tackles well and doesn't give up a lot of long gains. He's strong against the run, plays well off of his man and seems to be making the adjustments necessary to press when needed.
Idk allen had a rough one in GB and last night Rex was pulling out every trick possible to mask his deficiencies at CB.. plus Marshall was significantly less than 100% out there. I think Allen is still a question mark.
If Allen was a big question mark Marshall would have caught 3 balls blindfolded with one hand tied behind his back last night. That was his first game with 1 reception or less since 2011. Rex didn't have double coverage on him either most of the night. Jeffery and Holmes and the Bears TE's prevented that option. Allen definitely still has a ways to go but he has very quietly turned into a plus for the defense on the edge.
That pick was terrible. Nelson, completely gave up on the play, he did not want that ball thrown anywhere near him. Geno should of chucked it out of bounds or got what he could running. I didn't see that much play action called which is surprising to me when we were running the ball effectively (Maybe, I'm wrong, I'll watch the game again later). Geno's two picks last night were terrible. Vick is at the twilight of his career, he might be able to provide a burst one week; but he will never be able to carry the team.
You disagree that he's 34 and not 40? Vick beat out Foles last year and lost the job to injury when Foles lit it up. Foles is very good btw, geno is ... well, not very good.
Marshall missed a solid chunk of the game and he seriously looked too hurt to play when he was out there.
My takeaway is that 2014 looks like it will be no better than 2013 was. Geno is getting better, but he's still making rookie mistakes. The defense is good, but is still not forcing turnovers. I like how hard Ivory runs. Let's face, we've seen the best Chris Johnson has to offer. Is it me or has both Ferguson and Mangold fallen off...badly? The Jets offense is once again brutal to watch. Between Amaro and Cumberland, the Jets have half of a tight end. Amaro hasn't shown me much. Three games in,this season has the look of 6 and 10. The sad part for me is that Rex will have to take the fall, while Idzik will keep his job.
He didn't look too hurt until Harris clipped his ankle late in the 2nd quarter. He had 4 targets and no catches at that point.
Yeah we caught a break. He was primed for a big second half. Too bad the Jets couldn't take advantage
If Vick was better than Geno he would be starting. You probably know more about the offense and player abilities than Rex and MM though.
