Does this mean he will be the one coaching Gholston?

    Dear Lord please no.

I think he should be assigned the duty of picking the crabs off the bottom of Kris Jenkins' sack.

Honestly I would have felt better not hearing his name again, but he did fine with that role as WSW pointed out with quite a few other LB's also. A familiar face to our players with knowledge of their strong points and weak points may help Rex and Mike integrate their defensive schemes with our players. I have my doubts about this though.........

Jets fans never cease to amaze me. Do you REALLY think Sutton was running the D under Mangini? I have a bridge I'd like to sell to you.

Guess what? If Ryan didn't think Sutton was worth holding, he would have fired him. We have a new aggresive D oriented HC, who hand picked his partner at Baltimore to follow him here to be the new DC. Do you really think that the new HC and DC would retain him unless they didn't want him? Do you really believe that Woody would handcuff a new HC by insisting Sutton be kept around?

Sutton as mentioned was the LB coach who brought Vilma along. He knows the 3-4, the 4-3 and knows something about the 46 defense as well.

Schotty and Sutton were scape goated, not by Mangini, but by the press and the fans. Ryan could have kept Cox if he thought Cox was a better choice. He didn't. If this was a top down decision, why did it take so long? Ryan and his new DC obviously interviewed Sutton, and felt he was a good fit for what they want to do.

This is like whining about keeping the secretary of the CEO of AIG for bonus payouts after the CEO gets fired.

I'm not too upset about this but I am a little disappointed. I didn't think he was that great of a LB coach.

This is the first bad news that has happened in the off-season as far as I'm concerned.

Sutton needed to be shown the door so any bit of his crapiness wouldn't stink up the new coaching staff.

Yeah this is ridiculous. Mangini gets fired but everyone else remains, hopefully they know something we don't. Luckily he won't be calling plays this year.

Wait so your telling me that He couldnt get another DC job? that really is unbelievable, i mean that just proves how silly the rest of the league is I mean, he was such a great dc. I mean after his performance the last 3 years, the NFL is missing out on real talent here!

Jesus, after he wasnt fired after year two, I knew Mangini had no balls. I'm surprised bobby stayed on, but hell Schotty stayed and Rex may be keeping him on to ask him questions about how the guys work and shit of that nature. Sutton is just a tool at this point.

I've said before I think Sutton is a good practice coach, but a poor in-game decision maker. This move supports my belief, and I support the move.

We could lock Sutton and Dick Curl in a room together for one month with nothing but two butterknives and a can of cheez whiz because...well, not for any practical reason. Just because it would please me

is it possible that he was running the genius's defense as a puppet instead of running it on his own? maybe the team knew something we don't.

Sutton is still under contract, I don't think getting another DC job was an option. The Jets retained him.
