If you think Cam Newton can't play, you're sadly mistaken. You're gonna wind up eating your words. Pryor can't carry Cam's jock strap. Not only isn't Pryor anywhere near as good a QB, based on what I've heard, he's a total selfish prick. He only wants to be a QB, not run a wildcat, not be a WR or anything else. Eff him. Why draft Pryor to be a Brad Smith replacement when we have a Brad Smith replacement in Kerley who can already play WR without being a project?
Cam Newton can be a superstar if he's given a year to learn from the bench (and wait for the Panthers to improve their roster a bit.) But if they try to put him in the lineup this year, behind one of the worst lines in football, after a lockout shortened offseason, he will flop. He's not ready to be a starter in this league yet.

Most people think he will go for a 5th or 6th rounder. Since they are usually not much anyway he would probably be worth it if he was willing to take on a Brad Smith role which is doubtful.
On third reading, I think you're probably right. Still, I don't think they're even comparable physically, even if you take away the intelligence/attitudes/mental aspect. I don't think the two have anything in common other than they're both human beings, are both African American, and happen to play the same position.
I agree that it would definitely be in his best interests to sit for a year, but I disagree that he will flop otherwise. He's big, strong and tough. He has been remarkably poised and doesn't look like a rookie at all out there. In the game vs the Midgets, he never showed even a hint that he was gonna run. He was poised in the pocket and either got rid of the ball quickly, or when he had no chance due to the lousy blocking of the OL, he took the sack and moved on to the next play. He stayed within himself and didn't try to do too much. I think he's too smart and too confident to get shaken by his team's play. The only thing I would worry about with him would be his getting injured. I agree that the Panthers' OL is one of the worst in football and for the life of me, cannot understand how first Fox and now Rivera seem to have over-valued, overestimated the quality of their OL talent. From the looks of things however, Chudzinski and Rivera will get that fixed. I'd love to have Chuds as the Jets' OC. I know that Rivera won't do this because he wants to win as much as he can as soon as he can, but if I were the HC, I think I'd be tempted to start Anderson or Clausen, and let them get the crap beaten out of them by opposing Ds this year. They'd probably be picking top 5 again next year and could get the talent they need to put around Cam. If Cam starts, I think the Panthers could surprise a number of teams and the Panthers at least drop our of the top 5, if not the top 10 teams in the draft, and would lose out on some talent. Regardless, their OL needs to be a priority in the draft and FA.
Brad Smith hardly played at WR. Kerley will play WR. Not saying we need to draft Pryor, but just saying Brad and Kerley have no comparison. A 7th round WR can play better than Brad Smith as a WR.
his workout has over 120 scripted throws i think that says it all on his willingness to play a different position and Rosenhaus has never made any mention of him willing to adapt to a coaching staff projecting him outside of QB
hes saying that if some people question Newtons transition then Pryor has no chance. dont think he was labeling Newton a bust
Apparently he ran a 4.38 and a 4.4 on FieldTurf today at his Pro Day.Even when you add in margin of error, that's fast for his size. Doesn't make him anymore desirable at QB though...
Terrelle Pryor should stop trying to be a QB and start trying to be a WR. A 4.3 at 6'6" tall is insane.
If Terrelle Pryor has good hands and converts into a receiver, should we take a look at him? 6'6 and quick as lightning, could be a good project/pick up if he can learn quickly and if his hands are good.
Rosenhaus is now saying that Pryor is willing to change positions. With that kind of size/speed, he's worth a 4th or 5th rounder as a receiver. He was an extremely talented basketball player in high school, so in my opinion, he has the ability to play wideout.
