Though I think the players are a bunch of wussy's for not wanting to play in cold weather but a team like the Giants and the Packers played in like -5 degree weather for the NFC championship is okay..... One good point is with the money that they spent you would think they would of added a retractable roof to make the place morr appealing for Superbowls. But the most outrageous thing is they signed a 99 year contract which means non of us will see the Jets in their own stadium.
There's a hotel 200 yards away. Football is a Winter sport, this warm weather bullshit, is as gay as the Polian rule.
I understand the issues about transportation, but once everybody gets to the stadium at least they'll be a little "warmer" It's about a business. A retractable roof would draw an event like the Super Bowl, WrestleMania, and concerts in the winter months when they usually wouldn't be having anything going on.

I think this is going to be a great Super Bowl. And just for the record, this was the first year in 7 years it was too cold to take my convertible out for a spin. I've been making it an annual ritual to take the garage queen out for a ride on SB Sunday before I head to a friends house the game. Agreed..... Holy Shit - When did you get back in town!!!
Football is meant to be played in all weather conditions. It has been that way since its inception. It's like that for the regular season, playoffs, and now the super bowl. If you have a problem with that there are sports like baseball and basketball for you to watch.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but was the 2006 Super Bowl in Miami played in a downpour or am I losing my mind? If we can play the Super Bowl in the rain, the AFCCG or NFCCG in 0 degree temperatures or in the snow or rain, guess what? We can play the Super Bowl in the snow. The pussification of this country needs to cease. It's getting downright ridiculous. Play the game as if it were any other Super Bowl, because barring the chance of a little snow and giving out blankets to fans, it is.

Here's the answer....it ain't about the game, it's about the 100,000 bloated billionaires who haven't watched a single football game in 10 years wandering around the week before playing golf and spending billions of dollars at fine dinning joints. Fuck that. PLAY BALL!!!!!
You can talk about football being played in all conditions. That's fine and well. However the Super Bowl is much different than any other NFL game played throughout the season. It's a two week long buildup and holiday for many. Most people enjoy going on holidays to warm weather destinations. If it was just a normal game week to buildup then playing in the elements is fine. However the Super Bowl is a celebrity filled, star studded event that has taken on a life of its own. Personally I always consider the divisional round and the championship round in both leagues the best weekends of the football year and the unofficial end to the normal football season. The Super Bowl and the 2 weeks leading up to it are kind of its own separate season and think they should always be played in the most ideal weather conditions.
Goodell is a moron. He singled out Miami as not being optimal because the rain could ruin the game yet he schedules a SB in NY and is on record saying he would like one in Denver. I like the idea of the SB being in New York as opposed to other wintery cities. There is plenty of entertainment and the week prior next year should be fabulous. As pointed out, the issue is the possibility of a snow storm which seems to becoming increasingly possible. That's why I think the NFL has to keep the game in warm climates or in climates that are not susceptible to airports, roads and mass transportation being shut down for weather. Hopefully, next years game in MetLife goes with no issues but if there is a major storm, Goodell will be forced to rethink Denver. Speaking of Denver, with the game in cold weather, don't bet on the Broncos to win the big game.
This is a first time only time situation. The NFL dangled this carrot to the NY/NJ teams to help get the stadium done. They hope for a best case scenario, and will not attempt this again IMO.
Realistically, it should rotate through every stadium on the NFL. Equity demands that every franchise owner gets their turn.
