I don't recall Chad's arm strength being a big issue till his shoulder injuries. If he keeps on making throws like yesterday arm strength will be a non-issue again. I still can't get over how great Chad looked yesterday. I'll take smart, accurate and good decision maker over arm strength anytime. Montana and Marino did not have great arm strength, but they had all the other attributes. I remember seeing Marino in the QB Challenge quite a few years back, I was shocked to see his arm was the weakest (barely reached 60 yards) of all the competitors (Favre's was the strongest 75 yards plus), but you can't argue with what Marino was able to accomplish in his career.
And to think..he will only get better as the season goes along!....He's gonna shut all those critics up. I think we're in for some good football fellas, so buckle up, and enjoy the ride.
Very cool to see some due credit come Chad's way! Chad's arm IS stronger. They made a big to-do about it in preseason that he put an extra 20lbs of muscle in his upper body before the preseason. 20lbs of muscle is A LOT for the upper body. His arms are bigger, and so is his chest. That's putting a little extra on his passes. That said, pre-injuries, his arm was still a little above average. The difference is, there are so many guys today like Culpepper, McNabb, and Favre, that anything that isn't a canon looks like a peashooter. I'll take Chad's service revolver any day. In the right hands, it's still a deadly weapon. Plus, it's more accurate.
Suprised it came from Steve Young. This is the same man who in week 5 I believe of 02 said J-E-T-S Just End The Season and then got shit for it all year when the Jets gave him a nice big shitburger to eat and won the division. Is it just me or does Jaws kiss the Jets ass? Good man that Ron Jaworski.
