    Excellent thread.

Marcus Williams has earned a spot next year imo, and I look forward to seeing what more he can do to close the season. I don't think think CB will be as huge of a need this upcoming off-season as most are making it out to be. We will be getting 2 guys back from injury who were supposed to start this year. That said, we better at least sign SOMEBODY, and of more relevance than Dimitri Patterson.

At safety we have so many names, and potential guys. Let's go thru it. We have AA who I like a lot, and think should start. We have Jarrett who had 1 amazing game, but otherwise has never done anything noteworthy. Nonetheless, he still has potential, which is probably why we are starting him right now. Pryor obviously has potential, but obviously we need to see more results. Landry should be gone. He is old, and an average safety. Safety is a need just like CB is, but not a dire one.

The reason we are so bad, is because of Geno. It pains me to say it, but it's very obvious. Past that, our OL is VERY OVERRATED. We need to ditch the false start/holding king, and imo Breno too. Oboushi has his moments. Jury is still out on him.

Bottom line, QB, and OL should be our biggest worries. Past that, it should be more BPA, but the whole defense past the DL needs upgrades in general, but nothing crucial. (Also, I'd let Hitman go. His salary is too high, and he constantly gets beat in pass coverage. Whoever replaces him next year probably won't be as good, but sometimes you need to deal with that when going thru a re-build.)

Yes, I meant per year. May have reached with the number. He's going to be 30, maybe he can be had in the 9.5-10.5M Per range.

Did you guys happen to see our 6th round CB Brandon Dixon make a spectacular pick for Tampa last weekend?

Ugh. Love when ex-Jets like this go elsewhere and play well.... Danny Lansanah is leading all LBs in picks with Tampa and Josh Mauga has been starting for the majority of the season with Kansas City. One of the few draft picks that hasn't stunk this year, but having it with another team because Idzik decided to release him.

If Marcus Williams, and perhaps Phillip Adams and Darrin Walls, show enough the rest of this season and the new regime likes McDougle and Milliner, I might be okay with signing an older vet like Tramon Williams for a year or two and allowing the younger guys to earn their ways into starting roles. If not, then Chris Harris would be near the top of my list. Denver has a LOT of high-end free agents. It'll be interesting to see who they resign. They did just draft a CB in the 1st last year and sign Talib for big money, so maybe Harris gets away

Yeah, if we had Revis we'd be a playoff team. QB's not a position that ever holds you back it's all about the backend guys on defense. :p

    Lansanah was here?

By the way - i like what I am seeing out of Marcus Williams. Sometimes when you throw so much shit on the wall one turd sticks. Hopefully if nothing else we found a decent role playing corner for the future.

Pryor is a SS, and a very good one. It's about time we play people where they belong so we can get the most out of them. We need a FS. Enough with the Rex experiments. Good bye to Walls and Wilson, but way to early to give up on Milliner.

I'd like to see Pryor at SS and Jarrett and or Allen play FS. I'd like to think that if Allen was chosen to switch to CB (even if it kind of flopped) that he should have the coverage abilities to play FS

I remember seeing him make some plays in TC/Training Camp. Not sure if he'd project as well in the 3-4, but still always disheartening to see players like this get cut by the Jets and have success elsewhere

Too funny, it seems every weekend I'm watching a game and Dwight Lowrey is making a play. I don't even know what team he plays for.

We are going to have a new defensive coordinator next year and a new defensive philosophy. Kind of a waste to project how our current secondary will fit the scheme. If the new DC puts the players in a position that fits their skill set, we'll be a much more Tampa 2 zone schemed defense next year. And a 4-3 base for that matter.

That would be a very good move. If we can pick up a solid, experienced CB or two with a couple of years left in the tank to supplement Milliner and Dexter we should be competitive in that position. We learned we can never have enough CB. Having said that, our dismal problems are in the offensive side of the house so we better have a massive effort in that area.
IMHO the absolute trust of the 2015 draft needs to be on offense, QB,WR, OL, RB, sprinkled with ILB and OLB. Free agency needs to be hot and heavy on CB, hold the fort QB, OL and more OL.

This coming from a guy that defended Eric Smith every time he got his jersey burnt off his torso.

    LOL

I don't think we ever tried him at Safety (at least I don't remember) ... I remember him playing for the Jags at FS - he was decent. It was always at CB as far as I remember.

The same prob will happen to Antonio Allen.
