I completely agree with this. You want receivers coming out of college that have a knack for finding the endzone. Decker is a good example of this. He was a mid-3rd round pick and was pushed down alot of draft boards because he is not the speediest guy out there and was just considered a possession receiver. In college though he scored 24 TD's on a Minnesota team that has never had a great offense by any means. Thats the kind of guy you want. Saunders also has scored over 30 TD's in his college career, which is more impressive considering he played half his time at Fresno and half at Oklahoma. Enunwa his 1st 3 years didn't do much, but last year he had a breakout season catching 12 TD's. That's why he went in the 6th round but it also means there is some potential there. That's also the reason I wasn't high on Odell Beckham Jr. at all. The dude scored 12 TD's his entire time in college on an LSU team that had a NFL calibur QB. I really doubt he is going to be able to go to the NFL now and start scoring 8 - 10 TD's per season.
That pretty much sums it up. Oklahoma used Saunders on the outside only when the matchups were very favorable. During the Alabama game he played alot on the outside and burned Bama badly a few times. I am extremely high on Saunders. He's not the biggest guy by any means, but if you have the ability to get 2+ steps ahead of the corner then it really doesn't matter. We have seen that for years with Desean Jackson.
Thanks that's very helpful. I really hope Shaq Evans or Hill or maybe even Jacoby Ford can step up and give us a speedy outside threat to complement decker. I found this article that made an interesting projection for our wide receivers. For those who don't want to open it up, it has Decker and Kerley as starters with Saunders, Nelson, Evans and Ford as the backups. If this scenario played out post offseason, would you be pleased? Would these along with Amaro be enough to fairly evaluate Geno? Would Hill be worth at least a late rounder to another team? http://www.rantsports.com/nfl/2014/...k-jets-roster-and-depth-chart-wide-receivers/
