Mangini prob held Chad out because he knew he'd get re-injured with no o-line against that defense... I guess we can be happy that we survived the game without either of our QBs being lost for the season...

You should be banned seriously at least for a day because you don't do your research. Heres a little eyeopener for you so the next time you think about jumping on the back up bandwagon you hopefully think twice...

Chad's Stats against the Phins since 2004

Chad has gone 5-0 against the Phins since 2004.

    2004 - Week 4 (win)
    14 / 24 -- 143 yards -- 0 td -- 1 int

    2004 - Week 8 (win)
    11 / 19 -- 189 yards -- 3 td - 0 int

    2005 - Week 2 (win)
    19 / 30 -- 190 yards -- 2td -- 0int

    2006 - Week 6 (win)
    17 / 29 -- 175 yards -- 2td -- 0int

    2006 - Week 16 (win)
    14 / 29 -- 237 yards -- 1td -- 0int.

1 interception in 5 games vs. the Phins
    ...Not bad at all.

Yes we should all get excited when Chad beats the Mighty Phins this weekend. What are his stats against the Patriots, Colts and Ravens?

The only reaction Mangini showed last week -- and it was only a grimace -- is when Clemens got a delay of game Penalty (although, it may have been if we wasted a time out -- dont recall).

On That Grim Day In Buffalo...

We lost him, we lost him in 2004 in Buffalo. I believe Chad was going to be elite, but that day in Buffalo ruined all that.

Go to nfl.com, then go to Videos.

Go to Highlights, pick the year 2004 and watch all the Jets highlights thru Week 9. (There was a bye Week 3)

He threw with so much more confidence, threw down the field, all that. I know that the schedule was a little softer, but I think we were robbed of our guy.

I still love the guy, how can you not, I was there in SD when he threw that bomb to Moss with the torn cuff, plenty of guts with him. I guess durability is part of being elite though.

I am still pulling for him, can't bring myself to root for his exit, and am still hoping to see glimpses of 02 and 04, but I like Clemens as well and think he has a chance to be the guy in the future.

What makes you think that Mangini didn't tell him to remain on the sidelines with his helmet on? This is a stupid argument. Mangini purposely didn't tell Clemens he was starting so I assume it was for a reason... and after the Pats game I think I would assume that Mangini is aware of everything happening on his team's sideline. Notice that, once Clemens started to feel comfortable, Chad's helmet came off.

Why are you people arguing this? It's nonsense.

Do you get the feeling that KC will force the playing issue the very next time he's on the field? Somehow, you have to think that once this kid got his legs under him and had a real taste, the next time out will be a quantum leap over his first. I have a feeling that when KC starts his next game, that will be the last time Chad starts a game for the NYJ's.

In spite of the loyalty shown, its time to pass the torch. Its been 7 years folks. Let Chad move on to a different team that needs a heady game manager and get his ring. Let the Jets move into the future.

38 years and counting folks. That's almost 2 generations...

You make a good point. I have posted for years that the jets are too unwilling to pass the torch.

    1. Boobway resigns Martin to 8 year deal at age 30
    2. Boobway signs Marvin Jones to 5 year deal at age 30--he limps thru 2years
    3. Boobway gives Chrebet 7 year deal at age 30
    4. Chad hurt in 05 so they bring back Vinny
    5. Cotch wastes 2 years on bench watching Chrebet struggle

The jets REFUSE to grasp that NFL players have shelf lives and sometimes it is time to go with young blood--they will foolishly waste Clemens on the bench and then likely lose him to free agency like Lamont Jordan.

    Chad

Its time to pass the torch to Clemmens. And its not that I don't appreciate the heart Chad has shown or because I don't think Chad is good. The fact of the matter is Chad is a good QB to have if you have a good surrounding cast. If you put Chad on a team with a good defense and a solid running game he's a great QB to have, because of his accuracy. In that situation he will pick up a lot of 3rd downs with his short passes and move the chains. However, the Jets aren't in that situation. The jets have a weak defense and running game. The Jets need a QB with a big arm who can win them games. Not manage games. And who knows if Clemmens is that guy. But he has certainly showed some signs last week and in the preseason.

#5- Cotchery's not playing as a rookie no matter who drafted him. You want to make an argument for 2005, maybe there's something there. I didn't watch any practices, so I can't possibly determine if Cotchery should have played more in '05. If you do some research you will find that many WRs don't break out until their 3rd year. I don't think the Jets screwed up with Cotchery in any way.

    #s 2-4- I agree with you.

#1- I've been down this road before with you. The 8 years is not an issue. Resigning him or not resigning him is the issue. I don't know how you can argue it considering the guy won the rushing title.
