Bellicheat gets praise as one of the best if not THEY best defensive coach of all time. How is his defense performing? How is his pass rush? The coach can only do so much without the players. We've not done much to get better personel wise
How bout the notorious slow starts? Can we blame that on Ryan? How about his blind faith in his D and always electing to KO to start the game? Questionable? We should have taken the rock yesterday just like we did against Jax? Why did he shitcan that? The penalties are mounting as well it seems. Ryan?
I agree with you here. I happen to think the talent on our D is vastly overrated. But I always hear from tubby how fuckin great it is, so Ill take his word for it.
As usual the offense woke up when their backs were against the wall. Where was that fire throughout the 3rd and most of the 4th quarter? When the game was tied at 17 instead of going for it on 4th they should have kicked the field goal. The defense couldn't stop them on those big plays and not to mention they couldn't get to the qb. Offensive line was garbage
Anyone else think we should have kicked the FG down 10 on fourth down instead of letting Sanchez try to sneak it in?
With the way the offense was moving the ball (we got yards because of penalties) I would take my chances with a field goal.
My hand is raised ... but either way, winning the game was going to be a very long shot. I would have kicked just to keep us in the game, and see what happens with the onsides.
I don't think kicking the FG was the right idea in that situation. the clock was very short, the Jets had no TO's left. They were on the 2 yard line needing 10 pts. Their best chance to win the game was to score a TD and then get the onsides kick needing only a FG. It was a hard situation to face but an easy choice to make. 4th and 2 on the 20, then yeah you kick the FG and hope you can score the TD after you hopefully recover the insides kick. 4th and 2 on the 2 you try to get 7. A better question is why the Jets are so bad inside the 10 at this point. I'd say that one was more on Sanchez then Schotty but Chad sucked inside the 10 also in 2006.
We gave up a TD on the first drive, but we were also leading 17-7 in the second quarter. Don't know how that qualifies as a notorious slow start. In fact, our coming out flat in the second half and failing to make the necessary adjustments on D was the opposite of how we usually roll.
My guess is the percentages were on going for the TD. The thinking is at that point the Jets were already deep in the red zone. Even if they got back the onside kick, a huge if, if they had only gotten an FG, they would have had to go in to score a TD to get the score tied. Too much ground to cover.
Honestly, I thought we should have kicked it after the Keller play, maximise the time for a second score.
Rex Ryan's coaching is what got us to the AFCG to begin with. The Patriots destroyed us 45-3 then we came back and beat them with fantastic defensive gameplan and play calling.
