Let Sanchez or whoever start. This team has no weapons. Geno's development might be impaired by crap talent the way Sanchez's was.
this is the perfect opportunity to have him site back and learn...no reason to rush him -- as a second round pick he isn't getting paid $50 million. Sanchez/Garrard are the options to start. If Sanchez demonstrates he has found his form he can either be the guy or be a tradeable commodity.
Let Sanchez lead an 0-16 campaign. If you're paying him $12 M, you might as well let him buttfumble it for a worthy cause. Bridgewater '14
I don't think is a yes no answer,..it depends who wins in camp and depends on how quickly geno gets up to speed. So my answer is, it depends.
Well, of course you realize that everyone that disagrees or doesn't share AbdulSalaam's pov is clueless, stupid and has no clue. He's the all knowing, all seeing Salaam.
I just don't entirely buy the "letting him sit a year will lead to a better long-term outcome thinking." For every Aaron Rodgers you can cite an Andrew Luck. Ultimately, the quality of the individual shows through and whether they start off the bat or not, if they're going to get it they will. I'm willing to leave it up to the coaching staff to decide if he seems ready or not, but if he does - let him start. Which leads to my second point. I'm just curious why everyone thinks starting Smith is akin to throwing in the towel on the season. Did anybody watch Mark Sanchez play last year? Would the quarterback play necessarily be worse with a rookie at the helm? It might, but last year's quarterbacking was the worst I have ever seen in the NFL and I'm willing to bet that there's at least a decent chance that Smith could do better. On defense, the team never had Revis and the only downgrade I see is Laron Landry to whatever safety we plug in there. Wilkerson and Coples should continue to improve, Ellis could get better this year, Dewan Landry for Bell is a wash, Pace is Pace, Barnes is an upgrade from Thomas, Davis is an upgrade from Scott, and they added Richardson and Milliner. All in all, I see a defense that is probably a tick better from last year when they were still top ten. They're not a 12 win team, but they're not a 2 win team either. I would guess no less than 5 wins at worst, I expect 7 wins, and if the offense somehow pieces together a league average performance, 9 wins is not out of the question.
