The movie is absolute fucking garbage. It’s awful and worse than the first two prequels.

Even people who haven't even seen the movie say it sucks. . Fuck Star Wars. .

I’ve got a message for General Hugs...from his mother.

That’s in a Star Wars movie.

I feel like they've totally wrecked things over the course of TFA and TLJ. The Last Jedi was at least better than TFA, but that's not saying much. Just that they didn't decide to re-skin The Empire Strikes Back. I came out of TFA feeling pretty betrayed by the whole experience, whereas I came out of The Last Jedi feeling meh. Perhaps lower expectations this time around.

The way they upscaled the Force made it almost unbelievable. The Mary Poppins moment, the bouncing someone around the ship deck. Compare that to the original trilogy, and it was a bit of a stretch.

Then all of the cheap laugh moments. So many one liners, that I don't even remember anymore because they weren't that witty. I laughed at the time, but it broke immersion a lot of the time since they'd do it right in the middle of serious moments. How the hell do you build suspense around that??

I think this all stems back to a really poorly designed TFA. The First Order just felt ridiculous from the get go, especially compared to the canon that was built in the Expanded Universe. Was the Republic really that weak that destroying the Capital was enough to suddenly turn them into "Rebels"??? They're a freaking Galactic Republic.

The space battles were pretty meh too. Instead of B-Wings or Y-Wings, they had those super slow bombers trying to make a run? Oof. Then watching ships "sink" by tilting downwards after being destroyed. That broke immersion for me.

Throw in using lightspeed to decimate the enemy fleet. If this were possible, how the hell hadn't it been weaponised already? That's ridiculously powerful.

The only thing I didn't dislike as much was some of the acting. Poe was actually a personality in this film, as opposed to just a random pilot in TFA. Rey was okay, but still not much there being fleshed out. Ren was much less whiny in this one, just impulsive as hell.

All in all, Episode IX doesn't leave me excited at all. The poor storytelling has sputtered things out at this point, and just makes me wonder how they can fuck things up even more.

Edit: Oh, and the use of "Godspeed" in the film lol. Talk about bad dialogue choice.

Here is how I would rank the 8 Star Wars Episode movies now:

    8. The Phantom Menace
    7. Revenge of the Sith
    6. Attack of the Clones
    5. Return of the Jedi
    4. The Last Jedi
    3. The Force Awakens
    2. A New Hope
    1. The Empire Strikes Back

All 8 have their moments though.

You guys are out of your mind putting this movie ahead of the prequels. There isn’t one character or plot element in TLJ more interesting than any character or plot element of any of the prequels. Even at their worst, the prequels had a central conflict and characters I was invested in.

I mean Jar Jar Binks is arguably the most despised character in film history.

Of course. But it’s still a movie with Qui Gon Jinn who is interesting, Obi Wan and, even though underused, Darth Maul. All of which are better than any of the new characters in this series.

Even the pod race is more interesting than any of the battle scenes in this film.

There are 7 billion + people on the planet. It is a good thing for us to have different opinions. It's a bad thing to assume your opinion is correct though. Everyone is different.
All 3 of the prequels have their moments. Obi-Wan/Qui Gon/Darth Maul battle in I, Obi-Wan clone storyline, Shmi's death in episode II, Final Battle and beginning of Vader in III, etc.

Yes, I certainly didn’t intend for the statement to be taken too literally or as condemnation of those people who don’t think it’s an absolute piece of shit.

But you fuckers are out of your minds.

Never ever got the love for empire strikes back ever since I was a little kid. The snow scene is off the hook but then it just fucking drags forever with skywalker being a total retard not learning anything yoda tries to teach him. Half the movie takes place in the swamp and then the rebels don't win shit in the end. Easily my least favorite of the original three by a mile

Star Wars is like the NFL, we keep watching because it was great at one time, it brought us a lot of joy then and we don’t want to believe it’s as bad as it is and give it up.

    But it is.

I just realized Luke's arc in The Last Jedi is pretty much a combination of the Original trilogy. He starts out stubborn and whining about everything while not cooperating (A New Hope), Yoda helps him get back on the right path (The Empire Strikes Back) and then at the end of course he returns (The Return of the Jedi).
