I love all the negative BS about a guy that signed in good faith and got screwed over by a lying GM who does not know shit about what it takes to build a winning organization for the long haul.
yeh, screw him, and when other players that we want tell him to shove it you will be the first to bitch we can get good players in NY. Why should they? This org is a joke

He should've been cut by now... Did we already pay him the $500,000 bonus?

The reason Stanton is pissed is that he got two other offers with substantially more money in them but no guarantee he'd be #2. He took the Jets offer because they said he'd go into camp as #2 on the depth chart.

A few days later they trade for a guy and say he's #2 on the depth chart.

Stanton has a beef and it's going to cost the Jets about $500k on the cap is my guess. Whether it materially affects their ability to get players cheap with bland assurances in the future is not clear.

Most agents understand you can't trust Tannenbaum as far as you can throw him anyway at this point. I'm just surprised that Stanton didn't get the #2 assurance written into the contract. My guess is Tannny gets asked for some weird clauses from here on out.

that realistically isn't something that could be put into a contract. what if he was the number two, played a game and was absolutely awful? now the team can't demote him? no team would ever restrict themselves to that for any player.

Apparently all he was promised is that he'd go into camp as #2 on the depth chart. The Jets couldn't even keep that type of assurance for more than a couple of days.

If I was him right now I'd be filing a complaint with the union claiming that since the verbal assurance has been confirmed by both sides that the contract is voided and that he keeps the bonus money the Jets forked over before they decided to breach the assurance that lead to the contract.

I agree, Tanny screwed him over, especially considering he had other offers. that's why I think think this situation is the bigger indicator of his ability, not going after Tebow.

They could fix this by simply saying Tebow won't start at QB at all. Just in the wildcat sub packages

Brady Quinn did that and Tebow leap frogged him. Tebow was playin like a 4th string qb in training camp and preseason. He got that job because of the fans.

Just a snippet of a rumor, nothing more. Technically, it's due diligence, albeit a reason to celebrate if successful.
