Yes that is that is true he was making good decisions yesterday in the game and he has a bright future ahead of him if he can stay healthy.
Grade 3 shoulder seperation. Out for the season. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000...sonending-shoulder-injury?module=HP_headlines
Rough loss dude. The game the other day was the first time I had watched him in the NFL for an entire game and he looked legit. We Jets fans know better than most how shitty it is to deal with a QB having shoulder issues.
It's so frustrating but it happens, especially to this franchise. He needs to bulk up and stay down in AL for rehab like Brees did. And the reason it isn't official is because the Lions are waiting for Dr. Andrews' opinion.
Wow does that suck. I feel bad for Lion fans but feel even worse for Stafford. At the end of the year he'll have played in 12.5 of his 32 eligible games, and for such a young player these injuries are not a good sign. (obviously) Look at Favre, say what you will but that streak is pretty impressive. The Lion fan was right about QB's taking hits is a very important part of being a QB. No matter how good the line is the QB will take some hits. In 10 games last year he was sacked 24 times, his first injury came in a 5 sack game against the Bears so I think that shows you that his body can't handle the NFL or just isn't ready yet. Such a shame to waste that talent.
What a shame...I've always liked Stafford. Strange how some guys are just prone to injury, huh? I wonder if there is a distinct physiological difference in their muscle makeup, or if it's hereditary or something like that. I'm sure it can't all be based on bad luck, cause guys like Bob Sanders and now Stafford get injured constantly while Favre and John Randle never get injured. When I dislocated my shoulder a few months ago, the doctor said a tendon in each of my shoulders was a little elongated, so I would be prone to dislocations. I wonder if Stafford has the same thing, as his shoulder has been separated twice if I remember correctly. The Lions should've looked into that before drafting him 1st overall, huh. Maybe teams will start doing that now.
The Lions need to give Stafford a better OL if they want to tie their franchise to him for the foreseeable future. I think he's got the goods to deliver, but he's not going to accomplish much if he keeps getting his ass handed to him by opposing defenses.
I didn't think he had bad protection against the Jets. Sure the defense got hits on him but that's what the defense is designed to do. I didn't see him getting lit up any more than any other QB the Jets have faced. So far it seems like his body just isn't capable of making it through a 16 game schedule. I'm sure Lions fans wouldn't object to a better line but I don't know that anything can really prevent him from getting injured like this.
Nothing against your doc, but Stafford has been to Dr. Andrews several times in the last 18 months. If it was indeed a structural problem/irregularity, then they'd have already addressed it via the knife. Remember, Stafford never missed a game due to injury prior to becoming a pro. It it wasn't like he'd been playing behind an elite OL at Georgia. It is pretty remarkable how it plays out for different players. Kitna was absolutely destroyed here on a weekly basis in Martz's O and didn't miss a snap that season. I see he's now getting destroyed down in Dallas and he keeps getting up. Maybe that God thing isn't overrated after all.
Taking hits in college and taking hits in the NFL are two totally different things. I know Chad went to a specialized trainer to try and build extra muscle around his inured areas and workout specific spots to try and prevent injury. Lasted a year and as usual he was hurt again though.
Ah of course it's no disrespect to my doctor, it was just pure speculation on my part as a 3rd party observer. I remember now about seeing that he had gone to Andrews and you're right, if it was a structural issue they would have definitely corrected that, if possible. It's interesting that he had never been injured at UGA, and other than defenders obviously being much larger, stronger, and faster there would really be no reason why he should be getting more injured at the pro level. Take, for example, how he got injured in the Jets game. He basically just fell on it and the momentum of his own body weigHt hitting the ground caused the separation, and had little to do with the defender. I guess it all just boils down to dumb luck.
