I dont get it. This team is pretty much the definition of an 8-8 football team. Little bit of luck we could win 10..little bit of bad luck we could win 6. 5-11 sounds like a trainwreck season though. Cant see that happening.
I think that is a fair prediction, to be honest. Anybody who thinks this prediction is ridiculous and is so sure that we will go 9-7, 10-6 is looking through green-shaded glasses. This team hasn't been a playoff team for some years now. We are viewed as a lower tier team, as we should be. We have a lot to prove before we can be respected as a franchise again. Yes, we seemed to have gotten better than last year on paper, but our secondary is going to be a problem, along with our offense still being an unknown. I do believe Geno will make great steps in the right direction. However, our schedule is dreadful in the beginning, and with our secondary and those QBs I can see us losing a lot of those games. I doubt we'd be able to pull a last season Giants where we win so many games in a row after a terrible start. Remember, we couldn't even win back to back games last season until later in the season. I believe in this team, but am expecting a little less than them than a lot of you guys. I guess it's because I'm not much of an optimist, but I do think this team has a bright future, starting very soon.
Sports Illustrated is as mass media as you can get and the mass media is *always* wrong about the Jets. Picked us to play in the Super Bowl in 2005 and we went 4-12.
45 years and counting with no SB should be all the motivation this team needs. 66-1????? Hope we run the ball down the oppositions throats and put stupid critics to rest. Geno, CJ, Decker and the rest of the offense must step up with confidence. No defensive test if you run for first downs with impunity. Turning point for this year is beating NE and Revis, a big confidence booster. These odds will change dramatically as the team approaches making a playoff spot. The D will be stalwart but the offense I am now believing will surprise. Staying with my May pick of 10-6 season.
10-6? I like it. I think last year we were a 5-11 team that won a few lucky games and ended up an illegitimate 8-8. I think this year we are a legitimate 8-8 team that, once again, could win a few lucky games and finish 10-6.
Everyone will be testing our secondary early and often, if we can't make plays, it's going to be a long season. Even with an improved Geno and better receivers, we're going to have a hard time keeping pace with the Elite QB's we face early this year. If Rex has any tricks left up his sleeve on defense, he needs to pull them out now. Losing 5 games in a row will test the chemistry of this team and Rex's ability to coach them. They could easily fall apart and go 5-11, or they could suck it up and play harder the rest of the year, maybe making 9-7. If we can get to 3-3 to start the year, that will be a huge win for the team and a better ride for the last 10 games.
somewhere beteween 5-11 and 7-9 sounds accurate. we still have a poor secondary with no depth, a poor group of linebackers, and at best an average offense. We are also probably the worst team in the division. 5-11 is more likely then 9-7 or 10-6
i agree... in our position if you arent already ticked off, slighted, and motivated then you were going to probably have a terrible season anyhow. id be pretty frustrated if someone needed this to motivate them further
average defense that cant cover, a bottom 5-10 QB, and a bad offense is the definition of an 8-8 football team?
I guess my point is, this should probably rankle them for about 20 minutes, but 25 minutes later this should be so far in the rear view mirror and they should be concentrating on what really matters. If guys are sitting in their locker stalls next Sunday morning grumbling under their breath "mutherfucking Sports Illustrated....cocks....I'll show them" or if Rex, during his pregame pump up speech says "and you all know what Sports Illustrated said about you...a WEEK ago" then geezuz something is wrong. _
I think 5-11 is a good estimate. We will probably be 2-8 after the first ten weeks, and I expect a lot of changes over the bye week.. With no true #1 QB, #1WR and a secondary which is the worst in the NFL I was thinking 4-12 this season. We need to bring in a new GM, HC and draft a real QB. Our GM is a bean counter, the HC is just decent DC, and on no other team except maybe the Rams now would any of our QBs be a possible starter. Hell, 5-11 is sounding like a miracle.
The Jets beat Matt Ryan, Tom Brady (almost twice) and Drew Brees last season with a worse secondary than the one they'll have most of this season. You guys are ridiculous.
At the rate depressive Jets fans and outright trolls are going you'll get the over at two wins by opening day. The Jets are going to win 8 to 11 games this season barring an epic injury run.
Because the only position that matters to Jets fans now is the secondary. And with Allen and Milliner coming back and with Walls and Wilson, how is it so bad? And I guess the front 7 doesn't mean a thing? What are we playing, touch football where the DL has to count to 5 Mississippi before it can touch the QB???? I'd much rather have a strong front 7 than a strong secondary. Any day. And all QBs play badly from behind? And I guess the Jets running game means nothing? Running the ball and controlling the clock against these QBs is not permitted? Some fans are just ridiculous.
