I'm hoping maybe this will be the week that Tebow gets to actually throw a pass. The 49ers have an outstanding defense so doing some unorthodox plays might be a good way to catch them off guard. I just don't know if there is anyway that the coaches can defend what they have donwe with. What bothers me the most as Jet fan isn't so much that it's Tebow who they are doing this to it's that they traded a 4th round pick for a guy that essentially isn't being used. If he is this weapon that Rex and Tanny sold us on then they need to use him on more then 3 or 4 offensive plays and get creative with the guy.
No doubt Bannon. It blows my mind how could anyone think otherwise? Talk about vanilla.... Exactly. That's for sure. Especially when compared to Tim's pre-starter performance at Denver as you described. Totally a good way to use Tim. It can't be said any better than how you said it. This sums it up and captures why I am responding to your comments. How to use Tim effectively and NOT make Mark feel inadequate to the degree he melts down? Talk about a thin line to walk. I just hope whatever Rex and Tony come up with gets the Ws needed. The 49er game will add more insight but it's hard to imagine how the Jets get enough Ws without maximizing all of their weapons, including Tim.
Good article. This is something I wouldn't mind seeing in the main section. Man, we need Keller back, badly. Cumberland just isn't cutting it. You know when Tebow came in at 2nd and goal from the 3, I thought it was the perfect time to use him. The defense read it well, though, and they didn't adjust. Too bad it's the Dolphins, that might have worked on somebody else. Then again, 2nd and 3 should be a run to Greene or Powell, IMO. I don't want to see him take anymore Sanchez balls to the face. I like him as a decoy.
I agree with this assessment. He looked good on the fake punt (which he ran for) doesn't really make a case for him starting at QB. He doesn't pose a threat as a WR (too slow and not the best hands). As RB I wouldn't be surprised he's average less yards than Greene. As a QB I can only go by what I saw in pre-season which he didn't look good. I know everyone is clamoring to start him, but based on all the facts and stats I can't see why it would be a good idea. The only reason I can think of to starting him is to put this Tebow mania to rest by either having him succeed or fail. I thought it was a terrible decision to bring him in but Tanny thought it was such a hot idea. I'd like to see this one to it's fruition and then at the end of the season we can get rid of them both and return to decisions based on football fundamentals.
I just had one of CowboysFan's we've been scammed moments. My uncle convinced me that it was better for Tebow to go to the Jets than the Jags. He said Jets O & D were better than Jags and that Jags OL wasn't as good as Jets. He said Tebow would be able to learn as a backup and play the wildcat. Uncle Roger, WTF! I can't believe I let you convince me. WTF is going on up there? Why isn't Tebow being used as the double threat he is? The lame crap they're making him do is unbelievable, every opponent knows he's gonna run the ball. Mix it up! Coaches? Groan of despair
Even I didn't foresee that the run blocking was going to be this bad. That's why Greene has gone from all-star to sub-par. Part of the magic of Tebow is his ability to run when the play breaks down. Whenever Tebow comes in the defense plays run first, stacking the box. The truth of it is football is a team sport and the success of an individual player or coach is often not transferable to another team.
