VERY interesting read, PutJerrichoIn. I'd certainly bet it's Tanny, based on the comments.

This writer needs to go back to journalism class, however. Here are his final thoughts:

"If your the GM and you have no interest in Favre, say your not interested."

This guy writes a column and has never heard of a contraction? It's not "YOUR," it's "YOU'RE," the contraction for "YOU ARE." If "YOU'RE" the GM... say "YOU'RE" not interested. Christ, the dumbing of America is really getting bad these days when f@cking journalists don't even know the English language. Schools are turning out absolute dumbells.

Yeah there's def a few typos throughout his blog, but Lombardi is a former NFL Exec ("I have been an NFL executive for over 20 years, working for Bill Walsh, Marty Schottenheimer, Ernie Accorsi, Bill Belichick, Jon Gruden, Bill Callahan, Norv Turner and Mike Shanahan."), so I think he's still newer to the blog experience. Anyways I recommend to all that you read through some of his old posts, he has some interesting ones on the Jets.

Oh, okay... If he's not a journalist, he's excused. He's a regular Joe posting his thoughts.

But still, if he's a former NFL "executive" for over 20 years, it's not like he's working in the trenches with linemen and tackling dummies, he's been working in an office and now he's a blogger. Guys like that need to go back and take a refresher course in the English language if they want to blog credibly. The thing that destroys credibility instantly for me is if I see that a writer lacks basic writing skills. It's the one thing that separates an otherwise well-paid sports writer from us basic jerks who post for nothing on message boards.

What if GB hedges thier bet? That is, offer more enticing trades to AFC teams and less to NFL rivals. That is a win - win for them if you ask me.

I can't see the jets not considering pursuing favre if he's cut or traded. We have a win now football team, and are a franchise QB away from going over the edge. Sign favre to a 1 year deal and lets take our chances. Plus the packers would love to trade him out of the nfc to a team they don't play in 2008.

Hmm...and I always thought it was the responsibility of deadlines, and the credentials that got them the job that separates them...

I mean, these Favre threads are rife with sarcasm but I'd say that if most of what is being said is serious, then you guys are delusional.

Favre wouldn't come here so it's not even up to Tanny.

Favre is really, really good at making Pac 10 QB's sit on the bench.

If Kellen is the guy, he won't be Brett Favre this year, or the year after, or the year after that, which means that all these levees we introduced to stop the flooding of suckitude at various positions will either be all gone to sh or at least starting to smell.

However, Favre this year would allow for a complete offense that wouldn't be hampered by any "experience" mistakes, and he has better pocket presence to decrease DRob's allowed sacks. RaiderJoe will have nothing to say. It will be a good opportunity to evaluate the offense with good QB play to see which parts are okay, and which parts have been sliding by because KC/CP are so grotesquely putrid.

The only negative will be introducing him to and force feeding him the playbook (and teaching the receivers to catch real passes). Clemens' "feelings" are to be disregarded. HELLO?! You play to win the game. It makes perfect sense to bring in a future HOFer who is coming off arguably his best season with no injuries (again). But, he isn't coming to anyone who can be labeled as 4-12, even if he and Kris Jenkins deep sea fish in Wranglers every day in the offseason.

Obviously the arm is still there. But I think if he can't avoid a sack at the age he is, then his arm is no good to us. I say no, let's see what Kellen Clemens can do for a full season, or if Chad is going to win his job again.

    Bring in the Favre

Anyone who thinks we wouldn't be much better with Brett Favre with something to prove coming off a great season as our QB then Kellens/Penny are out of their mind. Yeah a temporary fix, but it let's us draft our real QB replacement next year. Sign the man up and we'll be instant SB contenders.

The Fan is going nuts with rumors of Favre to the Jets for a #2 and by by Chad. Fransesca is hosting. ESPN says this

What would NFL teams trade the Green Bay Packers for Brett Favre?

The Packers have asked multiple teams what they would be willing to offer for their team icon and former NFL MVP, the NFL Network reported -- a state of affairs once unthinkable in Green Bay.

While it is not known how many teams the Packers have contacted about Favre, they have not limited their inquiries to AFC teams, according to the report.

Favre retired in early March, but recently has been having second thoughts about playing in 2008. He has asked to be released from his contract, a request the team has no plans to grant. The team has said it is committed to Aaron Rodgers, Favre's former understudy, as its quarterback of the future.

The next step for Favre could be to petition NFL commissioner Roger Goodell for reinstatement, a move that would force the Packers to release him or place him on their active roster. But last week, Favre's agent, James "Bus" Cook, said Favre has no plans to do so immediately.

According to the report, one NFL executive speculated that the Packers simply are completing their due diligence on a potential trade market for Favre before deciding whether it would be worth dealing him.

Favre's contractual rights belong to the Packers until his current deal expires after the 2010 season.

^ I have been as big a supporter of Favre to the Jets as anyone, but a 2nd round pick plus a player is too much considering his age IMO.

Penny +a 4th or lower would be more appealing.

I agree, but I do not think GB will have even the slightest interest in Penny; and I see that as the main issue.

^ I think they would like the idea of a veteran backup, but I do understand your concerns about the weather.

True, but Penny does not see himself as a backup QB at all - though it is probably the best way to extend his career another 3 years; just like Favre does not see himself as a backup.

i can also see the jets doing this from a business standpoint to try and win immediately so they can rob us like the giants are robbing their fans with the psl. this move really makes sense on all levels.

The difference is that Penny is backup quality and Favre is starter quality. This team is one of the few that Penny would have a chance to start on.

See your point..............too bad we couldn't have made a deal with the Ravens or Minnesota, but I really do not see Penny as tradable unless he gives in to being a quality veteran back-up.

thats obviously why this deal is attractive to GB. as long as penny would want to mentor rodgers, it works. i mean penny is one of the smartest QB's in the league

I'd rather have Clemens or Pennington. The Jets are not a team that likes to bring a circus into town. (Except week 2)
