See, I never had that blind faith-- I have always questioned the moves we make- and we HAVE made plenty of bad ones under this regime-- most people have just been too optimistic to admit it. As for the thread title-- I know what it meant. I also know he phrased it like that for a reason-- Could have easilly been "It's the Jets fans who lose this off-season" But it wasn't, and I think Kurt knew what he was doing when he made that title.
He meant to say "The biggest losers in all this were the Jets fans" since we have to root for this team that he felt had made an egregious blunder by trading away the picks. The whole thing just escalated a little. Now let's put this thread back on track, I'll take the blame for changing the topic here. Our defense has dramatically changed over the past few years. We went from an old, slow defense with guys like Lewis, Jones, Cowart, Beasley, and Garnes to now an exciting, faster one with Vilma, Harris, Revis, Rhodes, and Thomas. I'm not going to put Miller in that category because he looks like a bust, and I'm going to assume Harris and Revis are productive, but our defense is a lot more talented than it has been in years past.
Then again I should probably drink turpentine because the Patriots widened the Gap... NO ? Not to mention, im pretty sure he can change his thread title hes a mod. WOw, a warning for calling a thread Garbage. WOW.
Here's one vote for "No." Give it a rest guys, really. We ALL have had some blemish thread/post, whatever. Move on, he said what he meant, some of us just saw it wrong... Relax and forget about it.
it never ceases to amaze me how posters will turn things around on someone to make them look like the biggest A-HOLE...Kurt, dont go anywhere...the more intelligent people understand what your intentions were... dont let a few dopes stop you from expressing your opinion...I disagree with it myself...i dont think we are the biggest losers(of the draft for those that dont get it)...i think we could have had a better however...but sometimes people have their own personal agendas that blinds them until they get resuts that suit them... stick around
You all roll holier than thou around here I've been reading lately.... Let me roll one with ya....53 and 5. That is the number of the Roster and practice squad. What the hell do you need to draft 12 guys for just to cut 9 of them...more like 10? Explain that to me. This quantity over quality bullshit is about as bogus as the smell of Brian Bosworth's jock. I'd take 4 QUALITY football players over 9 or 10 scrubs any day of the week. Whether or not you like it...they addressed the DL in FA, and they must feel comfortable with it...they got us a damn good RB in FA....they must feel comfortable with it. I understand what the thread meant and so did everyone else...some just come picking a fight. Kurt is an excellent poster and a good mod. You don't like it...leave... Personally I enjoyed the draft and the roster has plenty of decent talent...time will tell but the Jets IMPROVED this weekend...did not take a step back... Nuff Said.... Peace The Mezz
No, they said they would take care of the holes in FA so they could have flexibility in the draft...as in, make moves for the players they deemed valuable. They said what they did and did what they said. As for the backlash, stop being so melodramatic...you stated your opinion and people disagreed. You always have insightful thoughts to contribute and are a mainstay on this board...there is no reason to be upset. That's what this board is for...debate and conversation...don't let it go the way of the FCC...keep saying what you mean and don't worry about the rest, as long as you can back it up.
Our Defensive Backs are pretty good especially with the addition of Revis with his great tackling and speed. Just worried about the D-Line.
well kurt, know your talking sense. i hope mangini is done getting our subs. i believe this draft and free agency we've tried to get fresh legs. still cant figure out whats going on with madox and the secondary.
Yes, he has two seasons left - he'll almost certainly be a top priority for an extension after this season.
If this counts, I'll vote for one (but big fat) "NO" for your leaving. Don't let the hecklers get in your way - there are other people reading your post after all...
I really don't remember being led to believe that the draft would solve all remaining ills? My recollection is that Tannenbaum said he wanted all his ducks in a row so he could do whatever he felt approproate in the draft, INCLUDING trades up if the guys he/they coveted were within reach? One thing I suspect that he and the FO may be slightly (if not completely) guilty of is overrating the talent presently available on the back of last year's results. On that basis I think that they've overlooked some opportunities, but to be fair you can't do everything right, and you can't fix everything in one offseason, it's just not realistic. Sure, a handful of mid-round guys might have stuck - if we'd have had six picks maybe 4-5 of them make the roster. Right now there's a shot for all four of the guys picked to make it, so we're not that far behind. That is, of course, presuming that the picks were the right ones.
Back to the original intent of this thread, I do feel that we have improved the team. Lets not forget that we did sign several defensive players over the free agency period. If only two or three of these guys stick then we will be better off than if we were to have drafted a prospect instead. My thinking is that the FO has come to the conclusion that last season was something more than a fluke. We were a competitive team with some playmakers. Suring up a few areas of need may be all we need to advance further. I'm tired of gauging the Jets by comparison to the Pats. The Pats have a winning attitude that permiates the organization. I believe the Jets have this attitude now as well.
