Have you seen anything optimistic on the field the last couple weeks minus a strip-sack from Abe Elam? I certainly am not a darksider but am well versed in the "Same old Jets" stigma. I sat in a quiet room of my home asking why this happens to this team all the time. Don't get me wrong, I'm still a Jets fan, would love a playoff game and crave a Super Bowl Shot. But from where we were in the middle of the season until now has really opened my eyes. They cannot get the momentum back from 6 weeks ago. The disappointment comes from the mid-season hope that we could actually accomplish something to the fact that all we could accomplish was taking a big shit. I still want the Jets to Squish the Fish and let destiny fall where it may. But I'm not banking much on anything further than this week. This goes with experience I hope the younger fans will never have to go through.
i like that your optimistic about all of this, but seriously. In the reality world, the jets arent making the playoffs and the main reasons are that the jags suck and balt owns(even if the jags go up they will blow it), and pats don't lose to buffalo PERIOD. You can thank the coaching of Eric Mangina, Bob SucksDickton, and Brian CockInMyAssenheimer for running this season into the ground.
The Jets had they're chances to lock this thing up but they blew it, I hope Chad kicks their sorry butts come Sunday!!
This situation is really bizarre because IF we make the playoffs, we lose a high round DP right? Now, figuring that Farve won't be here next season anyway AND we're not really going anywhere in the PO's, isn't this kinda like winning the battle but losing the war? Only the F'n Jets could find themselves in a situation like this so if its all the same to the "real fans", I'll just wait and see which Jets team shows up on Sunday afternoon and I would be SHOCKED if its the same team that played Tenn. Besides, its only been 40 years and as a has been stated over and over, what's so special about this year's SB anyway..Or next years... Or last years.. Or the last 39??? Until these "real fans" have lived thru a few more decades of this shit, I really don't give a shit if I'm called a darksider, older poster, or whatever by them because unlike homers, I'm results oriented. I'm not from Mizzou, but this team and franchise needs to show me something. So far, they're the girl in the really short skirt that doesn't do anything in the dark.
Listen, even if we're lucky enough to back-in to the playoffs this year, this unmotivated, pathetic team isn't making it past the first round. If losing next week means that Mangini, Sutton and Shottenheimer's bags are packed AND that we don't have to give up a 2nd for Favre, I'm not totally against it, only because I know that this team doesn't have the gusto to make it deep enough into the playoffs and in no way deserves to be there.
bingo - there's a bigger difference between a championship team and a borderline playoff team than there is between a borderline playoff team and a non-playoff team. Just ask the Dolphins.
Throw in Oakland and San Diego earlier in the year and it's even easier to get. It's pathetic. When you look at the talent on this team you can only come to the conclusion that the coach is the worst in the NFL and yet there are people here who still want to defend him.
The way they have been playing and the way they are being coached,,they certainly do not deserve being in the playoffs. That being said I will be there rooting for them on Sunday...
You can always find some poor soul who will gasp for his last breath trying to defend a smelly lump of dog shit.
The fans who suck are those who want to give this CS a bye. Just think about it for a second. How the hell can you beat NE and Tennessee on the road in successive weeks and yet lose to San Diego, Oakland, Denver, San Francisco and Seattle? You fuckin can't. It's not possible. Maybe one of them, maybe in a really bad year two but all five of them? Not possible. They have to go. Now.
Also, our draft position would be in front of NE and MIA next year. All this said, I would still rather make the playoffs. It would be good for the young guys to get a playoff game under their belts and maybe the vets will not hate the idea that they signed here.
We were 8-3. To be where we are now is an abyssmal disgrace. We have lost 3 out of our last 4 to at least 2 incredibly horrible teams and you want me to be positive about the playoffs. We limp into the playoffs when we should have been going in as the 2 seed if we were serious. The media made it interesting by moving the Jets to 4:15 so they will know if they have anything to play for come game time. I, frankly, do not think they will have anything to play for. Buffalo has caved this year and there is plenty on the line for NE. No way does BB let NE lose the game. Ravens defense has been playing very well and Flacco is pretty good. Jacksonville could put up a fight, but in the end I think they lose. After that, I think the Jets mail it in to Miami and get booed off the field. It is fitting irony to the season. The guy we dumped like a used prophylactic comes back and kicks our rears. Even though Chad can't throw it with the velocity Favre has, Pennington does not have 20 interceptions either. How will we stop Chad? Where is the rush coming from that has been gone since the Titans game? Who is going to stop the run? We have stank in this department for 4 weeks. If the Jets have nothing to play for then Miami wins big. Why? Simple. Our team has no character. They are a complete shell of what they were when they were 8-3. For me as a long time fan, this year has been very tough or I should say the last 4 weeks have been especially tough. I will also say this. Even though I was tired of Chad, I did not like how he got such a raw deal, and had he been with us this year, we would definitely be better than 9-6. We didn't gain a damn thing with Favre from a producton standpoint. We lost. He will cost us at least a 3rd round pick, and we also got absolutely nothing for Pennington (CP was conservatively worth at least a 4th and possibly a 3rd). Plus, our coaching has been horrible, especially in the 3 losses over the last 4 weeks. Our coaching was inane in Oakland, too, earlier in the year. I will concede the NE and SD loss at the beginning of the year. Favre was learning an offense and SD still had something to play for at the time. NE, even with a rookie QB, is still a well coached team, even though I gag at the ground BB walks on. Look, I never expected this to happen. The bottom line is the team regressed badly after the Titans game unexplainably. Something is just not right. Something is going on in the locker room that we will never know about; there is some kind of frustration between coaches and players. The players clearly are not focused on football. When the Jets have nothing to play for on Sunday and mail it in; and they will, Mangini and crew should be shown the door. Given our schedule, the talent level of the team, a Bradyless NE, etc.; not making the playoffs is inexcusable at any level once a team gets to 8-3 and the reamining schedule is Broncos, SF, Buff, Seattle, and Miami. Even if by some miracle NE or the Ravens lose there is nothing to make me beleive that we have any chance against Miami. We have lost our heart. Prepare for a dismal day on Sunday because that is what will be served up.
Hell yes my man! I just got on the back our asses into the NFL playoffs after choking down the stretch bus because the goal is to get the letter from the commish that invites you to the SB tournament. As soon as we choked away our own destiny, I was on that bus. I have to say the wine and peanuts along with the leg room were better in the make your own destiny class up front than the back your ass into the playoffs bus.
Draft position means absolutely nothing to me. As some recent examples have proven, you can take a guy in the upper first, only to have him never develop or bust early, while guys taken in the mid to late 1st for much less money up front go on to have pro-bowl careers. Not to be snobbish but I really don't care where we are in relation to NE and MIA during the draft next year- it's a crapshoot in every sense of the word....
Now is not the time to complain about why you think the jets will lose in the playoffs if they make them, or to just talk about how you believe the jets will lose, NOW IS THE TIME FOR LIVING JETS FANS. We have a shot at playoffs, so we do what we need to do, and hopefully we can get a playoff spot, and C"MON PEOPLE I MEAN THIS IS NOT THE YEAR WHEN A FAVORED TEAM IS AT ALL GUARENTEED A WIN. The Browns beating the Giants, the Jets beating the Titans, heck take last years superbowl if you need anymore proof. the fact is that it ISN"T OVER YET. Stop whining about how you think we're not gonna make it, because it is not the time for that yet, now is the time TO BELIEVE IN YOUR FOOTBALL TEAM, hope is what runs any NFL fanbase, and we need it now, but you talking about all th reasons the jets will lose is not hope. So if you've really stopped believing in the Jets, then why don't you head over to Detroit, don't they have more wins. You seem act that way.
It's really hard to root for a team of losers, which is essentially what this team has become from the second half of the season moving forward. It's tough to get excited for a win when the players themselves could barely give a shit, judging by their lack of emotion and fire on the field. They are not playing like competitors right now, rather they're playing like guys going through the motions with one eye on the game and another eye on their vacation tickets for early January. We haven't stopped believing in the Jets for no good reason- they've stopped believing in themselves.
