I route for the Jets, Mets, Nets, and Devils. All the the red headed stepchild of the Tri-State area.
Life sucks........ The disgrace of watching the Mets choke two Septembers in a row...the Jets who always seem to fade in December and the Nets who always seem to be in the lottery except for two unreal seasons in the early part of this decade. I guess it could be worse.... UNLV is better than every college Bball team in Jersey and NYC.
Jets, Rutgers football & Yankees, I enjoy watching the Giants play as well but I don't follow them per se For basketball I like the Nets and UNC for college
Jets Mets RU Nets Devils. It wasn't that long ago that a Mets/Giants or Jets/Yankee fan combo was not only unusual, it was just plain weird. That's because the Jets and Mets were considered to be the upstart, anti-establishment teams (and both played at Shea) and the Giants and Yanks the more conservative, older "corporate" teams playing in the Bronx. I was an Islander fan until the Devils came to my neighborhood. It's the only pro team I ever abandoned for another. Since hockey is behind baseball and football in my universe it figures that it's hockey were I've rooted for and won multiple championships through the Islanders, then Devil cup teams. The Jets and Mets have grounded me for sure.
Although I only have a casual interest in baseball, I like the Mets. Mets and Jets was a natural growing up in Queens or Long Island in the 60s. I was 19 in '69 and do remember the WS / SB championships, and lets not forget the Knicks that year too... all beating Baltimore).
I will just throw my teams out there and be prepared for the razzing. JETS White Sox Iowa Hawkeyes Portland Trailblazers Hockey Sucks
