It's all semantics...geno is competing for his spot as much as milliner. No one has to say geno is on a short leash and if he doesn't play well he'll be out.
I believe Chan's main reasoning to coming out of his one year retirement was to work with Geno. I think Fitz is back up no matter what..
Its not really the same situation. Milliner is behind all-pros and MUCH better players. He isnt on the same planet as revis, cromartie and skrine and is even ot as good as others competing for those last roster spots. and as bad as geno is, milliner is much worse at CB then geno is at QB. milliner is going to struggle to stay in football imo. i see him as being cut this year
Milliner for a 3rd is the lowest I would let him go. Keeping him is the safe bet, and if he comes back fully from the injury and plays well when on the field he could improve his value. He is one or two Jet injuries from being a starter again.
Milliner isn't going anywhere and the good thing is that now he isn't going to be relied upon to be the guy this year. He will be in a situational role, as he tries to get himself back on track after his injury. He will be our number 2 CB by next year imo.
I believe he denied that in his presser, but I wasn't paying close attention when I viewed it. He's just coaching They're doing their due diligence in working with the kid. Another poster stated somewhere that a lot people are sick of our QB play going back to before Geno. I'm one of those. I was hoping to see Fitz the starter. But I'm open for this and am looking forward to see if Gailey and TB can get Geno up the curve. I don't see them trying to force it for too long like we've seen previously. Maybe Gailey can gear an O more towards Geno's strengths. I'm not sure Mornhinweg did that. Nor do I think Rex had much to do with it other than telling Geno to run with the ball when he had a chance. I still think there's an outside chance that Geno can do okay under the right circumstances. We'll see soon enough
What was Fitzpatrick before playing with Gailey? Worse than Geno. Don't underestimate system fits. Not saying he's a lock to succeed all of a sudden, but there's kind of some proof in the pudding when it comes to bad QBs and Gailey's offense.
Who would come out of retirement to work with Geno Smith?Instead of relaxing and enjoying life your telling me he came back because he was excited about the worse QB in the league?
To put this to bed quickly. Milliner hasn't been able to stay on the field, is a top 10 pick and is now buried behind a ton of depth. Geno while he has struggled, has been healthy, and is not buried behind depth. Doesn't mean if Geno blows he won't be gone. It means Geno is not fighting for a roster spot. Why is this even a thread?
IF that is true, then Gailey must really have loved being retired but just needed to pick up some extra cash. Plus it is my understanding it was two years, not one.
In what world is a first round pick equal value for Milliner? Equal value has nothing to do with where he was drafted it is how well he has performed. By your logic the Raiders could have believed a first round pick was equal value for Jamarcus Russell since he was the number one pick. Nobody in their right mind would ever think that.
I have a friend who's a Packers fan, and he couldn't believe it when I told him that many Jets fans can't stand Geno Smith, and think he sucks. He told me Jets fans are impatient, and that Geno is a good young QB that needs to be developed. Sometimes, to get an unbiased voice of reason, you have to talk to fans of other teams, expecially winning teams. Packers fans know how long they spent developing Favre and then Rodgers. You can't throw a rookie, or even a 2nd year QB out there and expect miracles. Developing a young QB, especially one from a gimmicky spread offense in college, takes time! And patience. Otherwise, you will keep drafting QB's and discarding them too early, in the hopes that you will find the rare diamond in the rough that plays well right away. Most QB's take a lot of time to learn how to play QB in the NFL. Jets fans would have crucified Brett Favre before he ever developed....recall he threw tons of INT's early in his career. smh.
