Boss, I had put it to bed ....unfortunately your rightful admonition to us was lost on my pen pal junc, poster child for the Dunning-Kruger Effect : -)
You made a good point when you said the '98 team was elite in the regular and post seasons. That was the only season I've ever experienced that as a Jets fan. Hopefully we are building towards making that a regular thing.
that is probably the only time in my lifetime as well though maybe '82 but that was a 9 game season. I hope we are annual contenders and can start winning div titles.
You know nothing about me. I don't consider any athlete a hero for their on the field accomplishments and I don't idolize or worship any athlete. People I idolize have more of an impact on society and humanity. So please stop with the personal insults when all I am trying to do is point out how you constantly play "heads I win, tails you lose" with your arguments on this board. For me, sports are an escape and one of the best forms of entertainment and Namath certainly was an iconic entertainer. I'm just tired of your "I'm so smart and you're so stupid" act every time there is a discussion on this board and someone disagrees with you. Isn't it time you stopped idolizing and worshiping yourself???? And any post that seriously compares Mark Sanchez to Joe Namath is a complete and utter joke. No go back to your stats book to make your arguments, except for when stats don't help you and you then argue "context" and other factors.
And the 82 Jets were 6-3 and were the 6th seed in an 8 team AFC playoff. Hardly an elite team. They just got hot in the playoffs. The best team I have seen (other than 68-69) besides the 98 Jets was the 1985 Jets. They just laid an egg in the playoff game vs the Pats.
That is a personal insult? that is the way you act about him. You cannot take any criticism and act like he is one of the greatest. You spend your time insulting me(actually insulting) rather than try to post things to back up your biased opinion. I love myself, I can't help it. Nowhere did I compare Mark to Joe, that is what folks like you are doing. You see me back mark and criticize Joe and in your mind you think that I think Mark is great and Joe sucked. That is your issue not mine. The only stats that matter are Broadway Joe was the first to throw for 4,000 yards! never mind throwing away the Jets season w/ all his INTs he had 4,000 yards! when you want to engage in a civil, adult discussion I'm always here. they were a game out of being the 2 seed, there aren't many other times in our history we can say that- actually there was only one other time we could say that and it was that 1985 team which I agree was our next best reg season team after '98 and '68/'69. 1982 was a 9 game season, prorate that to 16 games and we are 11-5 just like 1985 and considering we ended 1981 winning 6 of 7 maybe we go 12-4 or even 13-3?
I provided you with a huge amount of stats and information supporting Namath as a great QB years ago. I'm not going to do that research again . I provided articles by various writers defending Namath against ignorant stats-based arguments such as the ones you always make. In your typical fashion, you just dismiss them without refuting them by repeating the same simplistic comments - interceptions, completion percentage, Philbin quotes from America's Game show - because that is your style. It gets old and exhausting. You don't win arguments. You are the message board equivalent of a compiler. You repeat the same posts over and over and over.
a huge argument of stats? interesting. You haven't provided anything in years, when we had our initial discussion 5-10 years ago you did a good job(as good as you can do for such an overrated player), now all you do is attack me. who cares about opinions? you showed me random quotes, he's an all time talent. He had all the tools but his body couldn't withstand the punishment. I will never argue he wasn't an all time great talent but on the field he came up short. Show me one quote where I brought up com %? you are making things up. I know you are better than that to make things up. Philbin quotes don't matter but some random opposing coach complimenting his ability or some random writer means something? IO know I can be frustrating, you are used to people just bowing down to the perception of Joe. I deal in reality so that bothers you and bash me rather than bash my arguments, you make stuff up b/c you can't counter my arguments. I get it.
Stop with the coulda, shoulda, woulda already & come to terms that the NYJs have to this date been LOSERs for the last 45 years
In general, yes, but no, not every year. Consistency in winning the division is first priority because from there, the team would be considered as a legitimate contender. This franchise has done squat shit for the last 45 years. They haven`t even made it back into the SB to lose it. Buffalo made it 4 consecutive years losing all of them. That was one of the best teams ever assembled yet they go down as LOSERS.
BTW BTW if U desire to take shots at me learn to read & understand 1st. If you can not understand what you see on your monitor then PRINT IT & then sit them in a quiet corner & read it over & over until you grasp it OK?
The poster 1985er would qualify for a top of the line Darwin award if such a award existed. Also no sad when they changed the board so next best thing is mad to denote 45 years of losing
Oh yes I also saw SB3 & WAS AT THE GAME in Dec 68 when we beat Oak in the PO game that propelled us to the SB. How about that?
