Well, Hack is pretty much where we expected him to be after his red-shirt year - Flashes of the physical tools we know he has has better situational awareness then our last 'hope of the future' but locks onto his first read and doesn't sense the pressure. There's a good chance he can pick that up with time but right now he cannot start. Petty is again where we hoped he would be in year 3 and looked and acted like a pro-QB back there and whilst he has game experience we haven't seen year 3 Petty against confirmed starters. McCown, well I was originally and do remain high on him and still think he's a better QB then the 2-20 (or whatever it is) record that people use against him. so..............no idea where we're going from here.
Maybe the Hackenberg supporters have finally realized he is not an NFL QB? They are gonna say he is a rookie, he was beat up at Penn St., and needs to be coddled until the 2020 season. He is still our franchise QB, just needs to work on some things. Blah blah blah...... He was shit in college, is shit now, and never should have been picked. He might be a 7th or undrafted free agent, but damn sure wasn't worth our wasted 2nd round pick. I've seen high school QB's better than him. What a joke! Worse still is our O-line. It doesn't matter who we draft as a QB. Until our whole line is fixed, we are the worst offense in pro football. Where are all the Hack supporters that think I don't know anything about football because I called him a bust when we drafted him? Please show me what I am missing by evaluating him as such. He has a strong arm, but not one other tool. He is not cerebral, can't read defenses or make good decisions. He is inaccurate, panicks due to pressure, can't evade the rush. Just what does he do good other than hold a clip board? Petty is all we have going forward. Good luck Bryce Petty, you are gonna need it behind this line all season. Good luck Christian Hackenberg, you are gonna need it at the local factory as quality control guy holding the clip board.
This is true.. Bowles created this mess by playing McClown early on at the expense of giving both Hack and Petty valuable reps with the 1's. Now that idiot has no choice but to start McClown until the ancient Qb inevitably goes down. Hopefully by then, Petty will be back on this feet OR Hack has improved.
What happened to Petty? Didn't see. How bad did it look? I'm sure it will be worst case scenario. We're the Jets after all
Agreed.. Bowles owns this clusterfuck lock, stock and barrel. This is what happens when you continuously hire first time HC's. Now we get to suffer thru yet another learning curve by a former DC that has to learn how to view the big picture and take the long view. Not sure if Bowles is up to the job in a reasonable time frame. Macc is not blameless either in this. Time to pull his pass and give him the fisheye.
Petty said his injury felt "weird" and his knee felt "loose." Not a good sign. Anything other than a season ending injury will be great news.
So, if Macc had taken Mahomes, or Watson, or hell, even Kizer, instead of Adams, how much better would things look? Because right now they have Hack who clearly isn't ready, even in an emergency, Petty who's hurt, and McCown who probably won't last half the season playing behind this OL. Their only alternative is to sign yet another has-been and waste yet another season. in 55 years of rooting for this team I've seen some bad years. but this year is shaping up as the very worst.
i put this more on mac, sorry but 3 years in and to have this little talent. i have a hard time getting mad at bowles for bad play from bad players. but thats what happens when you pull a first time gm from a historically mediocre franchise.
We may as well sign 5 free agent QBs and stash them on the roster. McCopter will be McCrippled behind this OL.
