My theory is if a QB is there, take him. If the QB isn't there, don't reach! Don't panic, realize there are lots of other places this team can improve and need improvement and a youth movement.

He'll have a hard time because he's not a good QB, plain and simple. Other teams aren't shying away from because of the glare of the NY media and how it affected him. That has no bearing on another team's decision if a guy can help improve their team. The only decision that will go into other team's considering whether Sanchez will have a hard time or not will be his play on the field, and that's the only reason. Things were never clicking for him and he came up awful in clutch situations most of the time so not sure what you're basing your opinion off of. He was never a good QB but had the luxury of a top D and top running game his first two years.

I can't believe people are still discussing this guy. He had his shot (4 years which is more than most) and he showed that he's not an NFL starting Qb. I'm sick of discussing the guy.

The value of Sanchez will be displayed this offseason when the Jets cut him. When he hits the open market and gets very little interest to be a starting QB that will tell anybody all they need to know about his ability. He will never start a full 16 game season as a starting QB in the NFL again.

Sanchez is going to have a tough time finding a starting Qb position in the NFL not because of the surgery but because of his horrible play for two straight seasons (after being only ok to fair before that). Time to go forward and not stay with Mark ad infinitum. Let's get a good Qb for a change around here. Not keep hoping and wishing and praying that Mark finally plays well. And blaming every problem of his on his coaches, other players, etc etc etc. The reason he won't get a starting job is because the league knows he sucks. And did he get a fair chance to prove it. Over 60 starts. Almost no one ever in the NFL with his terrible production has lasted this long as a starter. It's really on the organization and hopefully Idzik knows when to fish or cut bait.

I was open to bringing back Sanchez to compete until he ran his mouth about "winning the starting job". Keeping Sanchez here would create a divisive locker room. We need everyone on the same page. So if a journeyman back up loses the competition to Geno that QB will accept it and support Geno without any conflict.

Sanchez went his entire career without second guessing a single decision made by our coaching staff and this one time he speaks up and says something your going to crucify him for that?

If he wins the starting job the team will rally around him.

He did win the job - everyone on that team knew the veteran QB won the job fair and square.

I don't see any veteran player looking at the veteran wanting to start and wanting to win in a negative light.

First time in 5 years he ever said anything that makes you go ooohhh and it is that he believes he is the best QB on the roster. No issue with that

There's no way in hell the Jets go back to Sanchez and don't upgrade at QB. No way. No organization would be dumb enough to trot that loser back out there. No way. Bring in a veteran or stick with Geno. But you do NOT go back to Sanchez.

Who is the upgrade out there?? For a 1 year stop gap who out there is that much better than the guy that has a year in the system? A guy that is young and a guy that has a chip on his shoulder to prove everyone wrong?

Now you see an article that Terry Bridewater might not enter the draft. All of the sudden this loaded QB class keeps getting more watered down

I'd go with Geno before starting Sanchez. Wouldn't even think twice. Geno had a horrible year, pretty Sanchez-esq, but he's also a rookie. If you can't get a veteran, put Geno back out there. He has more upside than Sanchez.

Oh the very strange minds of Jets fans. What the hell does this mean? This isn't pre-K it's football. Everyone doesn't get there shot at the game to be fair. You compete and if you perform well, you win the job. WTF.

Eh, who fuckin cares? One's a pederast dick weed that dresses like a gay soccer player and the other is just a fucking balloon head dumbfuck that everyone with a brain knew would suck shit.

They're both terrible. Clearly this shit organization can't draft a QB to save their sorry asses, so just go buy one

Geno has such little upside it's scary...the guy is just a roster spot and will be lucky to beat out anyone they bring in to be backup. He might be lucky to be the third strong if Sanchez is back and Simms/draft/random vet some in to battle.

Why is it a strange thing to say there is another guy who I think would be better?

When I say deserves a shot i'm just saying i'd rather give them a look instead of bringing Sanchez back.

I realize it's not pre-K football, thanks though.

I think Mark wants to come back but I think Woody (and presumably Idzik, who wants to please him) does NOT want him back on the team at any price.

Sanchez' contract is why Tanny got fired.

From my old sources, Woody is furious at the contract given to Sanchez, plus he didn't even play this year.

The contract isn't Marks fault and like I said in the original post the big part of him coming back is taking a restructure.

I can't imagine woody or anyone in the Jets organization "HATE" Sanchez.

Fans don't want Sanchez back, they would boo him the minute he steps on the field - it would create a toxic environment.

It would be more Toxic if they sign a veteran that has no real starting history to "challenge" geno only to see another 30 interception year as he learns how to incorporate new weapons.

2014 is going to be a one year trail of the coaching staff and new weapons. There will no longer term solution at QB discovered in 2014 unless they strike gold in the draft - and who sees that happening?

If the team falters again - rex would be gone and a new coach would come in and want to control who he has at QB.

So if you need a 1 year effort Sanchez isn't a bad choice - young, has fire, wants to be in NY, want to prove he was the better QB last year, and you can see if Geno truly has gotten better to the point where he beats out Sanchez.

if he does beat him out sweet! He has shown growth and maybe you have a real QB...if he can't Sanchez gets his season to audition for the rest of the league and if he plays solid ball he makes the jets better to watch than this season.

I totally agree, and I think most people that watch the NFL realize Sanchez is a backup level QB. The Jets have had little talent on offense for the past two years, which led to the Sanchez regression and which I believe is also hurting Geno Smith.

I wouldn't mind the Jets blowing a second round pick on someone like Derek Carr or Zach Mettenberger because the QB position is so important, but in no way should they bring Sanchez back.

The priority should be cleaning out the rest of the bad players/attitudes (i.e.- Holmes, Sanchez) and rebuilding.
