Just as storied? Who has 39 Pennants? 26 World Series? Much less 15.

Look, their are plenty of other team with storied histories, no doubt...But just as much as the Yankees? NOBODY has the history the Yankees do, come on.

The Yankees are the signature team in baseball, but that's just because everyone hates them. They called the play Damn Yankees for a reason.

And I'm not the type to just throw out the 26 WS...But since M&M is the one who brought up HISTORY, he struck out looking. Their is no point is debating who has the most storied history in baseball, not even close.

I think teams have "just as storied histories"...just not in a good way: The Red Sox have an extremely storied history, it just kind of sucks. Same with both Chicago teams.

These Yankee fans and their ancient history crack me up... who cares. As far as I'm concerned the Yankees have won 4 WS championships beacuse that is all that happened in my lifetime and I while you can't take away what they did for 90% of thier history before these guys were born it's not really an argumnt to say 26 WS when 22 of them happened 25+ years ago. Jet fans don't go around saying bow down before us because we were the 1st AFL team to win the SB .... oh and by the way and it was 38 years ago. If you were alive for 26 of them great use 26 as an argument but kids who were born in 1985 yelling 26 26...that's just assanine. That's like Spain saying yeah we dominated the world even though it was back in the 1500's.

Baseball is the only sport where a certain teams fans brag about ancient history. I've never met a Dolphin fan say we are the greatest team because of 1972 or a Packers fan that says hey remember 67/68?

umm,you said they are the signature team because everyone hates them, which is the 2nd dumbest thing i have heard, second to only something else posted by a met fan in this forum. My point was that they are the signature team because of almost 100 years of dominance in the sport. How is that not hard to understand?

who said "bow down"? Thats not ttrue at all. All of it come in defense when Met fans talk like their franchise is equal and they ruin every fucking thread we start about the Yankees with their penis envy bullshit.

That's simply not the case. The signature team in most leagues is the team everybody hates: In NBA it's the Lakers, even though the Celtics have won more. In the NFL it's the Cowboys, even in the midst of the Niners and the Steelers.

And even if you refuse to admit that they are the signature team because they're the most hated, the fact remains, they are the most hated. Now, why could that be...

When it comes to history and baseball nobody can compete with the Yankees I'm a hater not stupid. History however does not win championships. Yeah it's great to walk into the stadium and see all those nice banners but your team is only as good as what's on the field. That's why when I see 26 I just laugh at it. 26 is nice but that isn't what gets you to 27. When it comes to being equal no of course the Mets aren't equal in history but when it comes to 2007 the Mets appear to be the better team. Are they? I believe so but we'll know in October. Even when the Mets win that series next week it doesn't really mean anything unless we do it in October. Is it nice ? Of course but if it meant us winning the WS I'd gladly watch us lose next week. 26 is great but it has no bearing on 2007. To me it's a number and nothing else.

The number of championchips is not used as an attack in these threads but rather as a defense. Look around in this forum, every day there are Mets fans who either start negative Yankees threads or troll in positive Yankees threads. When someone like that (Shade) comes into our threads what do we do. Do we call the guy an asshole and move on: No, because if we did that we would be banned. Do we attempt to argue our points with these trolls: No, because all they do is come back with cheap one liners that insult the Yankees. So, you know what we do instead. We throw at them something they can't refute or make fun of. We are the winningest team in sports and you can look at that whatever way you want but it doesn't change. The Yankees are a great team with a storied history and if people want to be proud of it and use it as a defense against people who attack the team there is no problem with that.

Its history man. Its like dating a 70 year old woman with bad teeth and drooping boobs and no ass. But you say, yeah, but you should have seen her 50 years ago. Who cares today? But you say she has a storied history, its like ok, WOW. Maybe the guy who was dating her 40 years ago should be proud, but why you?
PS. and not even to mention the fact that after the Yankees demolish the cathedral, Yankee Stadium, Yankee history will mean absolutely nothing in their new stadium. In fact, its going to be second class to the Met's Citi Field.

That may be the case. But why are they the most hated? You're gonna tell me it's because of the fans and thats where i'm gonna tell you you're wrong. Just spend some time going through the posts here, and you'll see that it is the Met fans that come in and trash our threads, not the other way around. It's like fishing. The Met fans lay some dumb insult down first, and then wait for the the Yankee fan to bite and then use that to claim that we're the arrogant ones.
