I would end up with three picks. Gronk would have approx one catch for maybe five yards. At some point NE would just write him out of the game plan.

Gronk 6 catches for 31 yards and 1 TD. Brady only threw for 181 yards. I think that says a lot.

I am proud of the team and coaching staff, it's easy to quit this time of year and NE is the best team in the AFC. we had a great chance to win but Geno made huge mistakes again. it happens but I am proud of the team. Rex is one of the best coaches in the game, it's a shame he is going to be fired.

You know what I got out of this game? A growing appreciation for the lack of focus on the sidelines. If the Jets can do this to the Patriots and a few other teams every year why can't they focus up and be a good team most of the time?

That they are able to play this strongly, particularly on defense, against one of the best offenses in the NFL and yet able to play as poorly as they have in most games this year reflects very badly on the coaching staff.

Why doesn't he know how to call timeouts yet, then? It's only been six seasons.

that happens a lot around the league. He's not perfect but he's an outstanding coach.

I think "lack of focus on the sidelines" is a great way to describe it. I've been to 4 games in the last 2 years, and looking at the bench the players were all disinterested and sitting on the bench talking while the game was going on. I was right behind the Jets bench yesterday, and the players were moving up and down the field with the action and cheering. Hardly anyone was sitting, and those who were had the iPads in their hands. It looked... like they actually cared about the game. They said they were calling this game "their Super Bowl." Maybe they should do that more often.

"It happens a lot around the league." You just described a mediocre coach. Outstanding coaches don't piss away games that they have a real shot of winning. They, you know, win them.

All that means is that there are a lot of mediocre coaches around the league, and very few really good ones. There is no objective metric by which Rex can be defined as an "outstanding coach" or "one of the best coaches in the game." He's won 17 out of his last 50 games, for fuck's sake.

I would rather not get to the Superbowl,,,,then to get there and lose it !
Keep your Moral victories,,,,,ps the only way we are getting to a Super Bowl is if Woody buys 53 tickets,,,,but I stray

Moral victories are " nice " but its about winning it is not about losing by a point or " playing them tough "

the outstanding ones usually have a Tom Brady, Peyton Manning type. Does Rex have that? has Rex ever had that? that makes the job a lot easier.

So, if you don't have an elite quarterback, it's ok to win 17 out of 50 games?

Well, it's Tom Brady making a mistake vs. Geno Smith and Rex Ryan making mistakes we're talking about here. Tom Brady throwing a pick vs. Geno Smith taking a sack and as a result of that, taking his kicker out of FG range at a critical juncture. Rex mismanages the play clock (as usual) and has to call a timeout thereby icing his own kicker who in turn, has his fg attempt partially tipped and misses. Then the Patriots convert a 3rd and long on their next possession after the 2min warning and its game over.

At the presser, Rex whines about the "gift TD" when the reality is, he should have been whining about how his team crumpled at crunch time.

This is one of the differences between Tom Brady and Geno Smith. This is one of the differences between Bill Belichek and Rex Ryan. This is one of the differences between 12-3 and 3-12. This is one of the many differences between the Jets and the Patriots. This is also why we haven't won shit in a long, long time.
