Should We Get LT?

?

Should we try to get LaDainian Tomlinson?

  1. No way in Hell. LT is over the hill and done.

    23.6%
  2. Yes. Provided he passes a physical and the price is right.

    22.6%
  3. Maybe. He might be old but he's a year younger than TJ.

    7.5%
  4. No. The only value he has left is to help Woody sell PSLs.

Just so everybody knows, every time a player is cut or is rumored to be cut or traded you DON'T have to rush to your computer and make a thread asking if we should try and pick up that player.

The Jets don't really need him and I can't see the Chargers releasing or trading him. The Pittsburgh game proved that Sproles can't be the feature back and in the NFL now you need two good running backs. They probably couldn't do any better either.

So the jets are signing every free agent or possible cut in the NFL?

I thought Leon needed more touches?

LT is not just any player. With 15 or more NFL records to his name, he is justifiably regarded as one of the all time great RBs and thus merits at least some consideration in the discussion. He may very well be done but he may also have 1-3 good years left. No one knows.

We didn't have the best running game in the AFC, the only playoff team TJ would start on is maybe AZ.

Nor do we have a great running game either. Its is very rare to find a team that is equally balanced with a strong and dynamic running game and passing game. Typically (on teams with good offenses) one aspect is markedly better than the other. A great passing game can help improve the running game (although not always) but far more often than not, a great running game is essential to having a good and reliable passing game.

While our running game was greatly improved this season, it was nowhere near great and was often useless at critical times. Thomas Jones is a solid back but he's not special by any measure and his time here is limited at best. The ideal solution for us is to draft a stud which I sincerely hope we do.

In the meantime, while the odds are probably against a.) LT getting healthy and returning to top form, b.) remaining a top RB for the next 3 years, and c.) the Jets signing him, there are no sure things on either side of the equation. Anyone who thinks they know for sure knows nothing.

I said yes because he can still play. the chargers used him to much and barely subbed in his backups, he was always on the field. if we had him, leon, and possibly tj, then youre talking about about a threesome of running backs, a constant rotation like the giants did. but the price has to be right like a 2nd and a late round pick.

I dont think he is old and I dont think we need him.

We have 2 RBs that can get the job done just fine.

LT is injured, not washed up.

This is an interesting notion. You honestly believe giving Leon 1 or 2 carries a game wasn't enough? I thought 3 was a pretty big workload for him. He is not an every down back and we wouldn't want him to get hurt. Anymore than 4 carries a game and then then they would have to cut back his 2 screen passes....I mean it is a give or take.

Hey I am all for signing LT as even though he is on the wrong side of 40 he would immediately improve our pass rush.

Why would we want a running back who has ended the last two seasons unable to play -his knees are saying something - retire. Yes he was great, but it's all downhill from here. We don't need him while our two good running backs are begging for more work and are HEALTHY! How about focusing on getting another good corner opposite Revis???
