    Hell no!!!
We have other positions that need people NOW!
We will probably need a WR in next years draft or the year after.

no way, not in rd 1, not unless calvin johnson managed to make it to our pick lol.

the only one I would consider was if Sydney Rice was available with our early 2nd rd pick and even then I dunno. we have alot of work to do on OL/DL/LB

but it could be very possible, if their draft board has someone at one of those 3 positions they feel they can get later and be content with then sure.

but like i said, only way id touch one in rd 1 or 2 is if rice was there with our early 2nd. and wed have to have drafted defense 1st rd .

Help at WR won't make this team much better then it was last year imo. We have much larger needs to fill. I don't know exactly what the CS feelings are on the whole "best available player" deal, but I hope they go need before greed.

Rice, then Smith as a four.

You are right. What keeps the offense from producing is Speed on the Perimeter.

    Look at it this way.

Right now teams Double Coles routinely, and play off Cotchery a little to make him stay underneath.

Get a tall REALLY fast WR, to play SE on the right side (CP's first read...). Coles at WR on the outside Left, Cotchery in the slot....

    What happens?

The D is forced into a nickel, taking a LB off the field. Now if the SE has Deep Speed, the FS is Forced to help out on the Go route and deep post.

Now you have Coles on the far left...He is either singled up, or the remaining safety is split between Coles and Cotchery.

the Defense is now using 5 guys to cover 3 pass catchers.

With Baker at TE, and Washington in the backfield, now you have 3 LBs/3DL (or some combination thereof, remaining...)

How do you then defend play action without Baker running down the seam with a LB trailing?

Lack of speed on the perimeter is why Chris Baker isnt catching 50-60 balls a year. It is also why we always see 8 in the box.

As much as I would love for the Jets to get a Great Wr I must agree that they have to build the D-line first. Next year when CLemens gets his shot they can get a speedburner to stretch the field. They should concentrate on Defense mostly and get some offensive line depth this draft. Next year they can get a playmaker early. If anything they should try and draft a good blocking Fb. Other than that D-line to get some pressure on Brady next time around.

nice breakdown. i think you may have actually delineated the success of the Colts' Offense.

i don't totally advocate selecting a WR with one of our first two picks, but if the right guy is there, then they should consider it.

for those of you who say, "no way in hell, we have other pressing needs..." i agree we have more pressing needs, especially on Defense: NT/DE, OLB, and OL.

but what if one or two of those needs are met in Free Agency? what if we find a NT and move D-Rob to DE, thereby killing two birds with one stone? all of the sudden those more pressing needs are cut in half which gives us a lot of flexibility heading into the draft, consequently allowing consideration of an early pick on WR.

(for the record, at #25 i want Lamarr Woodley. moving D-Rob to DE and finding a NT one way or another makes the D formidable, actually having potential to harass QB's and force turnovers. but i don't rule out WR as an early pick *given the proper circumstance.)

    cheers

That's a fair point. You really can't know for sure what they are truly up to after just one season of drafting. Still all I meant was that with such an obvious need at NT they will almost surely be focusing on that early since that position is so important for a 3-4 defense. To take a WR outside of Jarrett and Johnson (maybe a few others) would be a luxury that we don't have at this point with the Jets.

i think we should take serious consideration into drafting a big possesion receiver. 6'3" and above what we lacked i think was that big tall receiver like we had in keyshawn johnson hate him of love him with his height and the heart of a wayne chrebet mixture is what we need. someone for 3rd down situations where thas the guy we going to try and stop it type of receiver. if we have to rely on chads arm to win games we might as we assist him in giving him a big target to hit. if you watched some of the later games during the season chad was over throwing receivers to high so that might help

I’m not a big college game watcher so I cant hang with some of you, who know the names and position of all the guy's but I would go after Joe jeravisous from the Cleveland browns for that big possession receiver we should have to spread the field. He's 6-5 and seasoned. I would hate to draft another potential former receiver that demands bu-ku bucks

    NO NO NO.....

We already lack speed at the WR position. That means 8 in the box all the time.

I can see us taking a WR in the 2nd or 3rd round. So much talent, one of them is bound to fall. Meacham, Rice, Dallas Baker, I like 'em all.

EDIT: Actually, I love Sidney Rice and Meacham. With the amount of OLB's avail in this draft, I wouldn't mind Rice with the 25th pick.

No way. Coles and Cotch at number 1, then you got JMac, B. Smith, and Dwight. We're set.
