Actually since MS proved that he can call the plays himself like JWN we ought to move Shotty from OC to chief scout & allow MS to call his own game
I think most people around the league would not put either Schott or Henning in the bottom half of OC's.
i hate WR reverses in NFL. Schotty likes em it seems. but Brad Smith has continuously got us key 1st downs as a QB/RB. as theyre taking training wheels off Sanchez , I hope they still find ways to get the ball in his hands
Vinny had a great year under him in 98 and he was running the Panthers offense I believe when they went to the SB in '03. Im not saying hes great, just a good OC.
He wasn't our OC in 1998(he was our QBs coach), Charlie Weis was and he lost playcalling duties to parcells. Henning was our OC in 2000 when he did an awful job, the carolina O was middle of the pack in 2003 then caught a little fire in postseason.
NO! Rex needs to stay involved with both sides of the ball. This was the reason our O was shit until the 2nd half of the year. Split it down the middle. I'm sure Pettine can handle things with Rex's input instead of the other way around Which is why WR reverses work on the Jets - Brad Smith
Something is causing the Dolphins offense to malfunction despite having a good offensive line, good runningbacks and good recievers. That would be either the QB or the OC. There's really no other place to go to explain why they're only scoring 17 points a game. Given the fact that Henne did everything but hit that last pass on Sunday night I think it is reasonable to suggest that Henning might be the problem. Up until this season the personnel was very questionable on that side of the ball and Henning got a fair amount out of them given the talent. This year they're loaded for bear and can't get it going. It does feel like a Schotty situation.
Was listening to Sid Rosenberg (a Giants fan hosting a Miami sports talk show - go figure) down here yesterday and call after call was ripping Henning to pieces. They're truly delusional down here... If 430 yards of total offense doesn't get you a W at home then clearly you've got issues on the other side of the ball.
Rosenberg used to employed by the FAN in NY but drugs did him in. Finally WQAM hired him. He is also roots for the Rangers in Hockey, Knicks in BB & the NY Mets in Baseball besides the NYGs
That was kind of the point of Sid's 20-minute tyrade. Phins fans have to spend a whole week "digging deeper", finding that one guy to crucify for all their misery, because they can never admit the truth: They just flat out got beat by a better horse that day.
I loved all the crying about Keller and after the complaints about Maimi's Dm this gem. "Pennington is the backup," "I'm starting to wonder why..." LMAO
Henning is pretty damn good. Remember, we were pretty good when he was here with Vinny. He was good in Carolina (Super Bowl appearance) He was good in Dallas. He's good in Miami too, unfortunately. How could they be pissed with 400 yards on our D? They carved us up last October too.
That was game 1. Jets completely shut down the wildcat on their 2nd meeting. They actually shut it down soo fucking bad, that I was surprised they even called it as much this past Sunday. I'm surprised that some of you actually thought Henning had a good rapport as an OC since 2000. Sure he wasn't the worst, but his offense was always in middle to bottom of the pack. I actually think he has underachieved with the talent there, much like how we perceived Shotty. He made wildcat what it is, and was a stroke of brilliance, at first. Much like 46 defense, teams caught on. You need consistency in mixing things up.
He did not invent the Wildcat, it's basically the Single-wing formation. Which as been around for nearly 80 years.
