Yeah and the line was in shambles, and the CS decided to become a passing team with a roster built to run the football.

I'm not excusing Greene 100%, but there were a lot of factors why the running game was shit. It started in the pre-season

I don't think Greene has the quickness or explosiveness to ever be a great back. I think he can be a solid back behind good blocking, but can never create something out of nothing. If he gives us 4 ypa and holds onto the ball we can live with that.

I realize that part of the reason is that we were lucky enough to get Martin from the Pats, but I find it remarkable that this franchise hasn't drafted a top tier RB in 30 years! (McNeil in 1981)

This is my line of thinking too- Greene will never be that RB that we can ask to make a game changing play or make something of nothing. In order for him to produce he needs a strong Oline, a solid 3rd down back/split carries and a decent to good passing game.

He's not going to magically turn into a RB that will break into the top tier or will carry a team when another area is lacking. He's limited in potential and I really dont think he'll grow into a RB that every fan base desires, but by this I by no way mean he's regressed.

His lack of production was a combination of the Oline being in shambles, the passing game being pretty schitty, and also him. All of the blame of the running game's regression from last year and the year before cant be blamed on one person or one position, hence the team sport...

This can be said of most RBs in the NFL.

This thread is confusing. Maybe it's just old, but Greene had 3 TDs last game and put in a great effort on many attempts to get extra yards. Where is the issue? He's been a lot better in recent weeks, and a lot of it is oline related. Greene is perfectly fine, I don't know why people bash him so much. If the oline is not creating lanes, then where is he supposed to run to? He certainly hasn't regressed. Considering that and Schotty's terrible play calling, you can't blame Greene for not have 100 yard games every time.

    Shonn Green recessed?

Shonn Green is having a f!@$(&! monster December! I mean a total beast in beast mode!

Glad to see Tom calling shots, Sanchez is benifiting tremendously from Tom as well as the WR's, announcers say he will remain the rest of the season and playoffs. This changes things for the Jets, who can make a serious run with Tom calling shots.

Shootys extention will give the Jets draft choices when he becomes HC somewhere else, smart move.

Greene always gets it going late in the year. Great game by him and the OL today.

Not it won't, unless another team hires him as an OC. If a team hires an under contract coach and promotes his position from say a position coach to an OC, or and OC to HC, I believe the new team owes nothing to the team losing the coach.

I think Greene was out of shape from the offseason. The lockout kept all of the coaches and training staff from talking to their players and I bet his quickness and endurance was seriously effected. It has taken him this long to get back into football shape, although i worry he will be tired out in a couple weeks. At first our coaches/front office probably weren't quite as worried with LT backing him up not to mention the plan to be a pass first offense. That didn't pan out when 1) we changed up the receivers Sanchez had been playing and practicing during the lockout with and 2) our O-Line shat themselves for a while.

I think this a good point. Early on the season, Greene definetly did not have the same strength and conditioning he has now. He looks fresh out there on the field...Although, I fear everytime he takes a big hit to his body.

Toms name all over on offense, announcers verified benifits QB and WRS

    Jets n Boys:

"Not it won't, unless another team hires him as an OC. If a team hires an under contract coach and promotes his position from say a position coach to an OC, or and OC to HC, I believe the new team owes nothing to the team losing the coach"

Thanks for the clarification. I hope he gets an OC job somewhere else but I doubt it. I also hope he gets a HC job somewhere else. The NYJs would be in the plus mode getting rid of him and not in the negative.

Like getting rid of your worst player who constantly cost the team as a whole every time they play.

What ever the case, he needs to be gone with or without draft picks for him.

Since Toms been with the team, the offense has gotten a lot better. The FO hired Tom to what "clock manage?" No this was a direct slap in Shottys face and a back of hand bitch slap at that.

The thing that impressed me most by Greene was his pass catching. He always seems to drop the ball or struggle to pull it in but today he was very smooth. If he could learn to catch passes out of the backfield it adds a very dangerous dimension to the Jets offense.

Agreed. He has improved his receiving by leaps and bounds since his rookie season and is now a more complete back. Obviously another sign of regression.
