I don't think any players were suspended while under Rex. Pace got suspended in '09 but for a failed test prior to Rex, we acquired Holmes who was already suspended. I don't recall any other suspended players in the Rex era.
Sheldon's forte is against the run, and none of those teams are particularly good at running the ball. The Colts and Eagles are both very pass heavy teams, the Browns have no offense and the Dolphins feature a short passing game. The only significant problem I see is Week 3 vs the Eagles; they run an up tempo offense designed to wear out the defense so you have to make lots of substitutions to keep your D fresh, especially with the big guys up front who get tired easily. Instead of rotating Williams in for Sheldon, we'll be rotating Douzable in for Williams. Not ideal but not horrifying, I guess. At least we'll get a fresh set of legs when he comes back. This isn't as devastating as I initially thought, unless Williams sucks for the first 4. Still, not good.
The Browns also feature an elite offensive line, probably 2nd best to the Cowboys, so having a dominant DL at full force would have blown up their only offensive strength.
He was probably high when he came up with that. Stupid things appear to be good ideas at these times.

It's a dumb rule, but a dumber decision by Sheldon. I think the pills these players take have some awful long-term affects.

What an idiot. Hopefully he checks his attitude and matures through this. Guess we'll get to see a good amount of Big Cat to start to season now.
