Whatever the scenario at the end of the day we need to get major compensation for one of these guys because letting either walk without a huge haul would be a permanent stain on the new regime .
we could also trade one, franchise the other and trade the other later if it came to it. at some point we are going to have to allocate real money to the QB spot. investing this much in the DLine works now but not so much in 3-5 years
I wish the NFL would come up with a way for teams to keep there home grown talent in some sort of hybrid salary cap scheme. I get that it's good for business to have parity where teams can compete for playoff spots but I long for the days where great teams stockpiled talent and stayed together. As it is teams are incentivized to milk there draft picks for as many years as possible on the first contract before moving on and always replenish with younger, cheaper talent.
I think there is very little chance the Jets franchise Mo. Although, I could see them franchising Sheldon.
Why do we get so unlucky thatwhen we finally get a good player, he wants more money than everyone else? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
There's more parity baseball right now. In the new NFL it's all about who has a top 10 Qb. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You never know what's going to happen a couple of years down the road. I kind of doubt the Jets will trade Mo this year unless Williams looks just great in camp. Even if Williams greases the skids for a trade it will be hard to get strong enough value for Mo to trade him before the season starts. A team would have to bring the kind of offer the Raiders made for Seymour to the table to really get the Jets attention.
The NFL and DeMaurice Smith put the screws to rookie-to-fifth year drafted players in the new CBA with the rookie wage scale and the fifth year option, it had to be expected that agents and players were going to fight for enormous salaries and guaranteed dollars as they were entering their second contract, agents were mad as hell about the money they were losing Mo's draft class was the first group drafted after the new CBA went into effect so now we're seeing the results of that
Agents didn't lose much money. They get a percent of every contract one of their clients signs. Young players lost a ton of money at the top of the draft.
