Buffalo doesn't exactly get the hype of large markets. The team is very young and talented. Jackson's understudy is Spiller and the younger version of Kyle Williams is Marcell Dareus. As for Fitz, he certainly is young enough to have a couple runs at a Superbowl while they develop the next franchise QB. The new front office has really made a lot of good moves. Some names of young players that you will probably be hearing on Sunday are... Arthur Moats, he ended Favre's career start record as a rookie, Jarius Bryd hard hitting safety who hawks the ball, Marcell Dareus better hope Mangold is 110%, David Nelson he just catches first downs and Chandler who usually shows up a few times in the endzone. BTW, the Jets have the 3rd oldest offense and 9th oldest defense in the league. http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcwest/post/_/id/44505/2011-nfl-team-age-ranks-at-53-man-cuts
Those age rankings are totally skewed on offense by having Derrick Mason's old ass included. He's gone now. The Jets are young pretty much across the board on O.. Sanchez, Greene, McKnight, Conner, Holmes, Kerley, Keller, Brick, Slauson, Mangold are all 27 or younger. Moore is 31 and Hunter is 30. Hardly old. The obvious exceptions are Plaxico, LT, and Brunell who skew the numbers big time. Brunell is 41 and a non-factor. LT is a little used RB. Plaxico is the only big contributor this year over 31.
LT isnì't a "little used RB" c'mon... that said I agree. Replace Mason with Kerley and don't count a 41 yr old backup QB and we're actually a pretty young O.
thejetsblog did a BGA on every game he has been in. http://www.thejetsblog.com/2011/11/01/bga-special-scouting-shawn-nelson/
Message from Shawn Nelson Can anyone translate? All I got was Patron all day. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
Well he's no Shawne Merriman, I'll give you that. Dareus better hope Mangold is 110%? Is he a masochist? I'm assuming that came out wrong. Not to knock Edwards, but you guys are one piece short of the best 3-4 line in the league. I'll give credit where it's due (your safeties are pretty nice too) but your linebacker situation is fucked. I've seen a few talented linebackers leave Buffalo, but I haven't seen too many come in. Arthur Moats? Really?
Nick Barnett has been an upgrade over Poz. And Kelvin Shephard, a 3rd round rookie from LSU, just had his first start. But the Bills definitely lack a studly LB core at this point.
“I don’t have a chip on my shoulder, but I play like I do. I use certain things in my life, place those on my shoulder, and use them as my chip." ~Shawn Nelson
He was largely a non-performer for the Bills. He had injury issues, then migraines, then a four game suspension for drug violation I believe. When the Bills signed Scott Chandler, who'll never be confused with Tony Gonzalez or Jason Witten btw, Nelson was history. I cannot imagine what "insight" Nelson can give the Jests about the Bills offense that they couldn't find out from film since he was cut before the season started IIRC, but the Jets are welcome to all the Bills busts they can scrounge up.
