You're kidding, right? Look around the media and on the message boards, Sanchez and Romo are getting ripped a new ass crack on a daily basis. It only looks like Tebow gets more because you spend every day arguing about him and it just looks like he gets more abuse. The difference is, there isn't a legion of fans out there trying to deflect the criticism and blame it on everyone else... which I think only adds to the criticism of Tebow on the bench. You really think you guys are helping him? Get real. He's still going to get a lot of abuse from the media though. He was their golden goose and so far his career has left a lot to be desire. They spent 3 years waiting for that underdog "Rudy" story about "the boy who could." they did their best to prop him up, and get him the starting gig with constantly being in Rex's face about when he will get the job. He got to write a memoir at 23, Made a commercial that generated controversy before he was in the NFL, and stuck his face in front of every camera out there to demonstrate how humble he was. How can you expect him NOT to take any abuse when he is in his THIRD season and spent 95% of his time on the bench? After all that hooplah that surrounded him when he came to the NFL. Wonder if he'll write a memoir about THAT. One thing I AM sure of though. Tebow is no longer excitedly excited and really excited about beind excited about being a jet.
Okay... Tebow went out, proved the doubters wrong, and really hit his stride this year. Oh wait, that didn't happen...
I will give you the benefit of the doubt that you fully know this is a nonsensical position. Tebow did not start, therefore he did not have the opportunity to perform the above-mentioned.
Exactly... he did not start. Why? Because he could not demonstrate to Rex Ryan that he was the better choice, and ended up sitting on the bench. Like it or not, the FIRST "opportunity" is in practice. If they see you shit the bed there, you're probably not going to get much starting time. You gotta make it past the audition first before you can get time on the stage.
He also did not "demonstrate" to Fox that he was the better choice than Orton, but in hindsight, he clearly was. It all depends on what the coach sees as his vision. Tebow was not the guy that Rex envisioned in his offense, and on top of that from what I hear he didn't look good in practice at all. I'll definitely concede that, since that is what all the reporters said. He didn't look particularly good in the preseason either, though neither did Sanchez. He did not earn the starting job. That much I can guess we agree on.
Exactly. Is it not too much to ask that he rip the starting job from one of those losers and NOT get the job by default? It isn't like he's had to sit behind Brett Favre for 3 years, or sit behing Joe Montana like Steve Young did for a few years.
I'm going to caveat this. He earned the starting job at the end of 2010. He lost it during the off-season. He earned the starting job at the end of 2011. He lost it to Peyton Manning being signed, which I don't think most reasonable people would argue against. Manning is one of the best ever and would unseat almost any incumbent not named Brady, Brees, Rodgers, or Eli Manning.
Romo really is not that much these days, he gets beat up when he blows up for 5 ints but everyone has been praising him for playing lights out the last month as an example and most knowledgeable fans understand he is the 4th highest rated passer of all time tied with your boy... that's quite an upside.. Sanchez gets hit pretty hard. The fundamental difference between the 3 and critical comments of them is that with tebow you get the word NEVER used over and over and over and over. He will NEVER be a QB He will NEVER improve etc. and before you tell me that sanchez and Romo are so far superior that people hope they get better, Romo , as I menitoend preivously, is tied for 4th all time leader in NFL history in QB rating. Romo is a tremendous talent , so I will give you him. But Sanchez? Tebow has a higher career QB rating. Tebow had more combined yards and TDs in his first (and only 16 starts) than Sanchez has ever had in a 16 game season. So why does Sanchez get year after year and tebow is a NEVER? Tebow is treated very harshly by everyone. From Bill Maher to Merril Hoge to Tosh to Stephen A. Smith. Its open season on the guy.
I don't agree with that one. THe season was long over, Orton got injured, and the interim coaching staff decided not to go back to Orton. not because Tebow earned anything. It was more to get a look at the first rounder and see what he can do in a game setting. That, and it was about fan appeasement, when the fans had nothing left to root for that year but a high draft pick. I wouldn't say "earned" so much as getting it by default. The broncos did okay with him, but most don't seemed nearly as impressed by it as you and some others were. As for losing his job to Manning, yeah, his starting job was long gone the second Manning was signed.... but... I STILL can't get over the idea that the Broncos chose to trade him away for a half eaten tuna sandwich. All that potential, all those intangibles, and all that great stuff people thought he did last year... and the decision ultimately made was the decision that thought the Broncos were better off with Tebow playing elsewhere. The team that got him doesn't look all that impressed either. Pretty tough to reconcile all that if Tebow really was that damn special.
"Combined yards and TDs?" But not PASSING YARDS and TDs, right? You know, quarterback stuff as opposed to running back stuff... Oh, and let's not forget that Sanchez has a pair of AFCCG appearances on his resume. I know that's not nearly as impressive as Tebow's ONE PLAYOFF WIN, but still - it should count for something. And there's STILL a whole lot of Tebow love out there. You really can't deny it. The existence of this sub-forum proves it. Timmy's got a lot of people in his corner. Tebow is a public figure. No matter what, SOMEBODY is going to talk crap about him. It really isn't any more than any other well-known college QB who was a 1st round pick undergoes. Tebow is not unique in the scale or intensity of criticism of his on-field play.
During the Broncos flirtation with Peyton, I wished Tebow spoke out against, saying "This is my team" or "I'm upset and offended" or "I feel like I give the Broncos the best chance to win". Even though I think Tebow is a below average QB, if you are the leader, act like it. Don't go with the flow. Part about being a QB is arrogance. You see it in Rodgers and Cutler, too much in Cutler though.
That's right Dennis because yards on the ground no longer count if a QB produces them . Here is a fact , Tebow had more total production in his first 16 starts that Sanchez has had in any season . He also has a higher career QB rating . Sanchez sucks beyond belief ( I am convinced of that this year ) you are better off comparing Tebow's passing and Phaytal's snowboarding . Tebow is a NEVER can improve or be a QB Sanchez is a " give him another year , after 4 ) In the immortal words of ochoa cinco CHILD PLEASE!
It got so much better in Bronco land after the Tebow fans left the building that you.....decided to follow them here. Oh my. Irony clean-up needed in Aisle #1. You.can't.make.this.stuff.up. QB's don't get judged 5 games at a time during the season. He wasn't 100% great during the winning streak and he wasn't 100% bad during the losing streak. He did good and bad things during both. I'm not going to hit him or any QB for losing to a Kansas City Chiefs team who had a new coach and had held the high-flying Packers to a meager 14 points and made Aaron Rodgers look like a very average QB the week before playing the Broncos. They gave the Packers their only regular season loss last year and held them to a mere 21 points less than their regular season average per game. I'm also not going to hit Tebow or any other QB for losing twice to the Super Bowl runner-up Patriots. Especially when the Denver Defense played like crap on a stick in both games. The Patriots beat a lot of other teams last year with QB's who had a lot more starting experience than Tebow did. Tebow definitely had a subpar game against Buffalo, who was not a great team, but even great, veteran QB's sometimes have bad games, young QB's who are still finding their way and learning the ropes are certainly going to have bad games. Andrew Luck has had multiple games this year that fall into that category. He clearly is serious, and also clearly crazy. Okay, we can play this game if you want to. If the Defense gets most of the credit for the Broncos wins last year, then they also get to have most of the blame for the Broncos losses, also. What makes me think you won't agree with that....Oh yeah, now I remember. Tebow only gets credit for bad things, not good things. Nothing compared to Tebow. Nothing. When you make comments like this you are just exposing - again - that your issues with Tebow have much more to do with Tebow the person than Tebow the QB. Spoken for truth. Neckbeard, is that you? You mean kind of like how Tom Brady got his chance in New England after Bledsoe got hurt??? So, are we erasing Cam Newton, Andrew Luck and RGIII's rushing stats from their records also? A QB's job is to lead his offense down the field and score points. I'm pretty sure a Win is a Win no matter how that is done. I can't believe you said this. You truly reside in never-never land if you think that.
Because with the QB being the most important, the least replaceable position on the field - let's just strip away all of the protections today's rules give a QB and let defenses turn him into a tackling dummy. It's stupid in the long term to have such a limited passer be so reliant on running. Playing as a gadget QB in a smoke-and-mirrors trick Offense. Look at his last 5 starts. Opposing DCs got a handle on defending the option and Tebow SUCKED. He's been figured out and will never reproduce his early success. Why do you think Denver was so anxious to grab Manning and dump Tebow? Why do you think Rex uses him in punt protection? BECAUSE HE IS NO DAMNED GOOD AS A QB. He can't read Defenses, check down, make good decisions or throw the ball. At best, Tebow is a RB/FB/TE. The difference is obvious to all who have the eyes to see it. Sanchez has played as a real QB and the Jets reached 2 consecutive AFCCGs with him. Tebow is a gimmick QB who can't throw and should convert to another position if he wants to be in the NFL next year....
 Wow. Two of the greatest defenses ever, and the Greatest Show on Turf. Do you hope people laugh in your face? It's like you're trying...
So let's get this straight. Tebow was carried by his defense (ranked 26th in the NFL during his starts with them) and Sanchez wasn't when our defense was ranked NUMBER 1 both 2009 and 2010.
Why is it so hard to understand that your defense suffers mightly when your quarterback leads the entire league in 3-and-outs and fumbles per game?!? That same defense is currently #4. Tim Tebow is terrible.
How many more times are you going to LIE about this one Phaytal ? It's not the same defense. Not surprising coming from you though, as you have a very strained relation with the truth.
