yea i hear that, but apparantly he was previously a wr and only switched because he was the best option at qb that his team had ... for him to be 6'3, 222 and be able to move out of his breaks the way the article describes sounds very intruiging to me
Dexter McCluster is having an amazing day so far. Tebow's throwing the ball pretty well today in passing drills. Taylor Mays has looked lost on most of his one-on-one coverage opportunities.
MCluster intrigues me..... The last 2 years Tanny has wanted to upgrade the offense with speed. 2 years ago it was no secret we wanted McFadden and last year he tried tro trade back into the 1st round to get Percy Harvin. With Leon being an unknown next year and beyond due to his injury Dexter could consider a long look at the end of Round 1.
He's just not big enough to draft in the first round. He'll be a hell of a pick in the middle of the second or early third though. McCluster's going to have run an extremely good 40 to go higher than the 3rd round. This kid will be a spellback and an option in the slot...two things the Jets could need come draft time.
Battle of the NTs: Dan Williams got owned by John Jerry on his first play in pass rushing drills. Mount Cody looked much better in these drills...completely driving the guard into the backfield. 3-4 OLB prospect Antonio Coleman looked very quick off the snap in these same drills.
I heard Kyle Wilson CB Boise St. looks great. Can also return( which we need, JCo did not look good returning). Apparently Strickland and Lito will be goners, this would create an immediate need.
That guy is freaking awesome!!! He's Quick, Runs great routes and has handles! A better Wes Welker than Wes Welker.
Wasn't aware he is only 170lbs. He looked bigger when I saw him during the season. I was thinking he was along the lines of 185 or so. Some might think he can add 10-12 lbs to his 5'9" frame, without losing much speed, but I agree it would be tough at 170 lbs to go before the 3rd round.
I read on another Draft site the Patriots were interviewing Iupati extensively today at the North practice.
Dexter McCluster is not similar at all to Wes Welker. Welker was a great college receiver - it's amazing that he went undrafted. I wish people would stop comparing undersized guys to Wes Welker. Welker was a first team All-Pro selection this season - give the guy the respect he deserves.
Kyle Wilson is the best west coast cornerback. I would actually be very excited if the Jets took him at 29. The kid does well at everything he's asked to do. Wilson is a top tier return man, he hits hard, covers well, and makes plays on the ball.
As of right now, he's the #2 or #3 corner on a lot of boards. Joe Haden is definitely the best corner prospect in this draft. It'll be interesting to see how the rest of the cornerback ratings shake up... Guys like Wake's Brandon Ghee, Michigan's Donovan Warren, and OK State's Perrish Cox will all have a shot, just like Kyle Wilson, to be the second cornerback off the board.
Dex McCluster would certainly be a nice replacement, but there's no guarantee that we'd be able to pick him on draft day. I'm still hoping that Tannenbaum acquires more picks, but let's just say we stand pat and don't make any moves: We'd have to over draft to get McCluster in the first round, and if he keeps dominating during Senior Bowl week and has a stellar combine, he won't be there when we pick in the second.
I had my doubts, but I think Leon will be back to full speed. Leon Washington can handle the rigors of running the ball consistently...McCluster won't, unless he bulks up another 20lbs. If the Jets wanted to go that direction, McCluster would have to fall to the late rd 2...it may not happen. McCluster is a player that needs to get into space to be effective.
It would depend on the tender the Jets give him as an RFA but I was expecting a mid-level tender which would give us a 2nd rounder if he signed the offer sheet.
