if the jets start out 2-0 they have a realistic shot at 10-11 wins. i think they have more a chance to go 1-1 or 0-2 though. weeks 1 and 2 are going to be tough games against upper tier teams in the NFL not just the AFC. i think both NE and BALT are going to the playoffs...so it will be a good litmus test early on.
I don't like this post. The Ravens and Patriots are 2 great teams. The Jets could play great football in both and lose. So I don't think you can say they will only win 5-10 games starting (0-2). Although if they did win the 10 as you say, that would be 10-4 down the stretch, and I think that is easily possible.
I'm not going to do a league wide prediction but I do think the Jets will win a minimum of 7 and a max of 11. I won't give a definitive number but I do believe that we will miss the playoffs this year to what will likely be Pittsburgh/Ravens/Bengals (total crapshoot there) and Denver being the other wildcard.
Lot's of confidence in buffalo.... Jet's go 1-0-15, making the wild card, but suffer a quadruple overtime loss to the cardinals who had traded conferences with the colts.
AFC East New England 12-4 New York Jets 8-8 Buffalo 8-8 Miami 5-11 AFC North Baltimore 12-4 Cincinnati 10-6 Pittsburgh 8-8 Cleveland 5-11 AFC South Indianapolis 11-5 Houston 7-9 Jacksonville 6-10 Tennessee 6-10 AFC West San Diego 13-3 Denver 11-5 Kansas City 7-9 Oakland 4-12 NFC East Dallas 10-6 Philadelphia 10-6 New York Giants 9-7 Washington 6-10 NFC North Chicago 11-5 Green Bay 9-7 Detroit 8-8 Minnesota 6-10 NFC South New Orleans 10-6 Carolina 9-7 Tampa Bay 6-10 Atlanta 4-10 NFC West Seattle 10-6 San Francisco 9-7 St. Louis 8-8 Arizona 6-10 AFC Champion: San Diego NFC Champion: Dallas Super Bowl Champion: San Diego MVP: Ladanian Tomlinson Rookie of the Year: Calvin Johnson
If they start out 0-2 they'll have to go 10-4 to get to 10 wins. I see that as marginally possible although improbable. That's why I put 10 wins as the ceiling for a 0-2 start. I see virtually no chance they go 11-3 or better after 0-2. This is not 1998 with Curtis Martin in the backfield and Kevin Mawae, Jason Fabini and Jumbo Elliot anchoring the offensive line. And Chad is no Vinny circa 1998. Vinny was putting up either a dominant season or a mediocre one every other year in those days and his dominant seasons were much better than what Chad is capable of. On the defensive side the Jets had one of the best CB's in franchise history in Aaron Glenn and an excellent safety in Victor Green and they also had a bunch of strong linebackers to cover three competent 3-4 linemen.
Everyone picking the Bills to finish in front of the Jets is making me sick......!!! What talent does the Bills have that the Jets don't? What holes does the Jets have that the Bills don't? I know you guys are just trying the realistic but COME ON the Bills in front of the Jets...? Or are you guys not Jets fans and just waste time on a Jets message board? The Jets made a playoff run last year and everyone is all hyped. Now you see little holes during the PRESEASON and think we are a 6-10, bottom of the division team again... I know we face tough teams from "previous years" this year but at least show some faith for your team that made a surprise playoff run last year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AFC East New England 11-5 Buffalo 7-9 New York Jets 8-8 Miami 4-12 AFC North Baltimore 10-6 Pittsburgh 9-6 Cincinnati 8-8 Cleveland 6-10 AFC South Indianapolis 12-4 Tennessee 8-8 Jacksonville 6-10 Houston 6-10 AFC West Denver 11-5 San Diego 12-4 Kansas City 3-13 Oakland 6-10 NFC East Dallas 10-6 Philadelphia 11-5 Washington 6-10 New York Giants 5-11 NFC North Chicago 11-5 Minnesota 9-7 Detroit 5-11 Green Bay 8-8 NFC South New Orleans 11-5 Carolina 8-8 Atlanta 7-9 Tampa Bay 4-12 NFC West Saint Louis 8-8 Seattle 10-6 San Francisco 8-8 Arizona 6-10 AFC Champion: SD NFC Champion: Seattle Super Bowl Champion: SD MVP: LT Rookie of the Year: A Peterson Just a quick shot... the numbers won't likely add up.
The Bills have a better equiped team, period. That does not mean talented though. Lynch is a major upgrade over McGahee and Jason Peters will only make him better. Losman is getting better every year. Bills D lost Nate Clements and look to be light in that area. The Bills have an easier schedule and are not dissimilar to ourselves in terms of development which is why alot of posters are putting them over us.
how can you possibly say this?????? If that was the case, the very first champion of the NFL would still be the champion every year since. The way you make it sound is that there is no end to being the best team. So in other words, you are saying that since the Jets made the PO`s last year and lost in the WC, they should move to the Divisional Round this year, then the AFC Championship the next, then actually winning the Championship??? Doesn`t make sense. It would be nice but it don`t work that way. By the statement you make, the Colts will be the Chapions again because they can only be better than last year.
being the natural and instinctive darksider i am.....year 2 of any regime is usually tougher than years 1 and 3 respectively. its easier to go from 2-14/3-13 to 6-10/7-9 and light years harder to go from 9-7 to 13/3 or so. the jets have compounded the problem by not addressing the starting guard positions and the starting DE/OLB positions. we know rome was not built in a day but the NFL is a fluid league with many parts and pieces and you can ALWAYS get the guy you need - depending on what risk you are willing to take. a major step back this year in W/L record and a weeding out of certain positions should occur - QB, guard, CB, DE/LB, possibly OT with dbrick moving to RT after this coming season. 7-9, 3 game disprovement, though we are still on track for tangini year 4 (2009 season) to be THE YEAR. jil
I wont due the full NFL but I think we see the AFC East like this at the end of the season: Pats 13-3; Jets 10-6 (WC); Bills 5-11; Phins 3-13 I see the Jets schedule playing out like this.... HOME VS PATSIES ? WIN 24-23 AWAY VS RAVENS ? LOSS 19-3 HOME VS PHINS ? WIN 24-16 AWAY VS BILLS ? WIN 19-17 AWAY VS GIANTS ? WIN 27-23 HOME VS EAGLES ? LOSS 20-12 AWAY VS BENGALS ? LOSS 37-6 HOME VS BILLS ? WIN 16-13 HOME VS JETSKINS ? WIN 27-16 Bye week. 6-3. Team is not dominating, but finding ways to win. HOME VS STEELERS ? WIN 21-17 AWAY VS COWBOYS ? LOSS 23-14 AWAY VS PHINS ? WIN 31-13 HOME VS BROWNS ? WIN 19-16 AWAY VS PATSIES ? LOSS 39-13 AWAY VS TITANS ? LOSS 28-24 One week left. 9-6. Panic is setting in after two straight losses in December. Need the win to be in. And, yep, that familiar face is waiting? HOME VS HERM ? WIN 23-20. I want to write something about Herm mis-managing the clock with a minute left in the game allowing the Jets to drive for the winning FG. But I wont do that?.that would be too obvious?..wouldnt it? Looking at the schedule, I think predictions from 8-8 to 11-5 are reasonable and count me on the optimistic side with 10-6. If we make it to the bye week with 5-6 wins, we should have a realistic shot at the wild card. I am pumped! Go Jets!
