Probably my favorite ST photo. From the UM-FSU game played in Tally in a driving rain storm.

This one is pretty cool, too.

RIP one of my favorite players in the league. Was a fan of his since he was at miami and truly one of the best players to ever come out of there. Its sad so much violence in the world, its just unnecessary.
And to that shooter payback is mother i hope he gets it 100 times worse.

Taylor was a great player and will truly be missed. This is nearly an unprecedented event in professional sports however, a star player murdered mid season. How will this new regime in the NFL offices handle this? They have a spare draft pick to give them in round 1... But can they really do that? because then anytime a player dies, however good they were or tragic their death(Damien Nash, Darrent Williams, Korey Stringer come to mind) would be compensated with draft picks. I just dont know how to handle this from a league standpoint. Because you can't do nothing, but you can't do anything of importance either without seeming to value Taylor's life more than any other NFL players who dies...

Taylor's father to killer: `Turn yourself in'
    Nov. 27, 2007

BY REBECCA DELLAGLORIA AND OSCAR CORRAL
    ocorral@MiamiHerald.com

Dressed in black and clutching her 18-month-old baby, Jackie Garcia paid a tearful visit Tuesday to the family of her slain boyfriend, football star Sean Taylor.

Garcia, 24, pulled up to Taylor's father's house in the Fairway Estates subdivision near Richmond Heights around 3 p.m. in a black Mercedes.

With her brown hair held in a ponytail with a black band, Garcia carried her baby girl, also named Jackie, into the house. She was accompanied by her sister, and her father, Rene. The baby, wearing a pink bow in her hair and pink sneakers, was asleep in her mother's arms.

She declined to speak to reporters, leaving the task to Taylor's father, Pedro Taylor.

He described the relationship between Garcia and his son as close, and ``a bond that can't be broken.''

He then talked about his son's death. ``Whatever took place between He and God at the time, He [God] had it all in control. I'm at peace with God, and God, he makes no mistakes.''

He said he was not angry at the person who killed his son. ``You know who you are if you did it, turn yourself in. Vengeance is not mine, it's God's. He holds that in his hands.''

At one point during her hour and a half visit at Taylor's house, Garcia and her sister came out to greet well-wishers. She left when Taylor spoke to the media, her baby bundled in a black blanket.

Taylor said his son had grasped fatherhood ''with opens arms,'' and it was part of his evolution from childhood to adulthood. Asked if Sean ever disappointed him, Taylor said he always tried to guide his son.

''We all have high expectations, but we all understand that everyone has to travel the road and there are going to be some mishaps,'' he said. ``But guess what? That's what we're here for to steer them in the right direction.''

Who the heck sleeps with a machete next to their bed? The stories say he heard a noise and picked up a machete and started searching the house. I mean come on, this guy was trouble from the start. Its a sad story indeed, I feel for his family and friends. And if he was changing his life why the heck was this guy still living in down town Miami. Isn't there a better area he could have lived? Sad story, a great football player that was only 24 years old is now gone.

If I had had a break in, and someone left a knife on a bed earlier that same week, I'd sure as hell be sleeping with some sort of weapon nearby....

You already admitted you didnt like him, and now you're dirtying up this thread with ignorant assumptions.

    - he didnt live in "down town miami". he lived in a nice residential area, near biscayne bay, and was quite a distance from "down town miami"

-he probably lived in a better area than you, and paid $900,000 for his house.

-He was trouble from the start? More ignorance. He was in his home with his gf and child on a Sunday night. that's real trouble, isnt it.

-He could not possess a gun due to being on probation, which ironically was probably set to expire at the end of this month.

Do you keep a baseball bat or other weapon in your house, or are you completely defenseless in the event of an intruder?
If so, you are even more ignorant than I originally thought.

I don't think the NFL gave the Broncos compensation over Darrent Williams.

Anyway, this story just really sucks. There are really so many things wrong with this. Can't even be safe in your own home.

Tragic story, but it's part of a greater picture. It's time for the NFL to comletely cut any ties it has to the rap/thug culture. No tolerance for players with gang ties, no more rappy music at games, no more cross promoting with jay c or the puffy guy.

You're an idiot...a large part of the NFL fan base likes rap music. Rap music had nothing to do with Sean Taylor's death...he wasn't in a gang either. His father is a police chief in south Florida and everyone is saying Taylor became a much better person after the birth of his daughter. He has no gang ties -- he went to The U. Big deal, that doesn't mean someone should break into his home and murder him.

For you to say something to stupid is just ridiculous. You're a joke.

Yeah right.... Because Sean Taylor was killed by music..... And nobody who listens to rock, or country, or opera has ever committed a crime... And everyone who's ever sang/listened to rap, is a thug and therefore should be banned from society....

    You're an idiot

It's the thug culture that's glorified by some of these juvenile athletes that leads to these sort of things happening.

    allan1...TGG's White Supremacist

I don't care if Sean Taylor was a thug or not, he was murdered and you are blaming an entire culture for one person's crime. The only person that's at fault here is the guy that pulled the trigger.

    RIP Sean,

One of my favorite non-Jets and a guy was praying would be wearing green and white before the draft. Such a senseless tragedy.
