I hope we still target Olivea or a RT in the draft. While I like the signing I don't think Woody could hold down RT for 16 games. But he's played center, guard and tackle in his career and did it pretty good so he provides GREAT depth.

I hope we sign Olivea instead.

Woody + Carl Nicks would be just fine for RT.

Woody is a former C right? So god forbid Mangold gets hurt, he can always slide over and maybe we'll avoid the fumbleitis that seemed to occur whenever Mawae or Mangold got hurt.

Unless there was another episode of NFL Network, he didnt say that I watched the 5:30 MT shows.
He said that Woody is in NY this evening and will be meeting with the Jets Monday. He never said the Jets were about to sign Woody.
Yes Lombardi did not like Woody , he said that Woody/the Detriot OL did not play well.

  8. Woody is still a very solid guard. I have no doubt he'd provide great depth and versatility. The only thing I question is his ability to play RT for 16 games.

  10. I wouldnt be surprised to see him compete at both Rg and RT for the starting job. I strongly doubt we pass on a lineman on day one of the draft and also believe Bender will have a say at RT, so Woody's gonna have to compete for a spot(at least I hope)

Woody could start at RT for us. Clement is not very good. If we fain a better RT through the draft or FA, Woody is a great depth player for the O-line, or perhaps a replacement for Moore. it would be a welcome signing.

i like this signing as a stopgap woody was productive for the pats a few yrs ago and could be a big upgrade over clement we just need a young body behind him to develop

The Jets are "pretty close" to finalizing a deal with free agent OL Damien Woody, according to Newsday's Tom Rock.
Woody was at Jets headquarters on Sunday. It looks like he's their top choice, ahead of Chargers castoff Shane Olivea, to replace RT Anthony Clement.
