OK. I'll give Holmes more time. And I'm not saying that the other receivers are no good...I'm saying that Cotch has just as much talent, but seems to be kinda phased out. I've seen him open plenty of times, but Sanchez would rather throw to Holmes deep in double coverage. Like I said, Keller has impressed the hell out of me and I'd even like to see Brad Smith in at WR more often. This is one of Braylon's best years since the 2007 season with the Browns as well. Sanchez is still young and has a lot of growing to do. I'm sure we'll see all the WR's performing better once Sanchez performs better. He forces the ball deep into coverage too many times when he has receivers open for 10-15 yards
Like WSW pointed out, Cotchery is probably just the 3rd or 4th read on the ones your mentioning. This isn't Madden where you can scan all your receivers and see who's open within 2 seconds, you have to make progressions. Cotchery is good, but he doesn't have as much talent as Braylon or Santonio. Brad Smith is perfect in the role he is in...he isn't a good every down receiver. When would we bring him in at WR? You are complaining about Cotchery not getting enough throws....who would you take away from to get Brad Smith targets? Smith does not play WR when you have Braylon, Santonio, Jerricho, Dustin, and Ladainian on your team.
on a 4th and 6 he got himself into single coverage with a safety and got both hands on the ball while having his head jerked to the side. What more can you really ask of the guy? We don't even need to talk about the third down catch. That was a great catch.
I never said I wanted Brad Smith in on every play at WR. I don't want him in on every play. I think he's good at what he does as well. I'd like him in a few plays a game at WR. It was a way to point out that I don't think the other WR's are no good, like you said. Also, Braylon and Santonio had better QB's throwing to them in the past. That means a lot. And if they have looked better this year, it is because they are the 1st or 2nd reads, as you mentioned, so they get the big plays called to them more. I am saying that Schotty might want to switch it up a bit because Cotchery has been dangerous in past seasons. Watch some highlights if you need a memory refresher. The offense has looked pretty decent, but I think it could look better if Schotty called some different plays.
I don't think Edwards had a better QB, but Anderson did play pretty well that season....fantasy wise. Mostly because of Edwards. I just think it would be pointless so put Brad Smith in just for the sake of playing him..when you have better options. I don't need a reminder on how good Cotchery is, I'm a huge fan. This was what was expected though, we have 3 #1 WR's on a run first team...their contributions aren't going to show up weekly in the box score like they might on more pass happy teams with less elite options. Don't get so caught up in stats, you have to account for players like these at all times, they are contributing in ways the camera or commentators may not notice or point out.
Santonio Holmes is a criminal, his negative effect on the team's chemistry was the cause of the fumble
Holmes has barely played and he's looked good in his 2 games. Edwards has been playing really well, once holmes is comfortable this offense will be near unstoppable w/ all the weapons. The CS and FO love Holmes and I think he'll be priority #1 in the offseason(of the non drafted Jets).
The ONLY thing I have a problem with on that play, and with Santonio is the fumble.. It was a well executed play, except he fumbled the ball.. That's it.. He has played 2 fucking games, calm the fuck down.
So far, Homes has looked a little rusty, which is to be expected. However, maybe im giving him to much cushion but...I feel that hes been giving some clutch throws and has made some key 3rd down catches for us so far. As far as that reverse, It looked to me like he got a little to excited and tried to do to much with it, couldnt make up his mind. Not a very big deal just a brain fart. I cant wait to see how he does after the bye week.
