Holmes was right in everything he said. He let his emotions get the best of him, during that one game and got benched. The oline cost us multiple games that year and he thought that, as captain, mentioning it publicly would help motivate them. Instead it fueled a smear campaign against him. But yeah, major exaggeration over a single incident. Holmes has been exemplary since then, aside from the odd media trolling here and there that gets blown out of proportion.

On a 1 year deal a healthy Holmes with something to prove is probably a very good value signing. In 2012 he was off to a fantastic start until he got injured reaching for a poorly thrown pass. Looking at the high priced but mediocre FA talent out there Holmes looks like an even better value. The problem for us is I see Holmes having a lot more value for any team, that is not us, picking him up. Even though he loves Rex he has to much baggage here. We cannot bring him back after 2011 followed by 2 injury plagued years. But for another team, I would not trust him for more than one good year. The team that signs him in 2015 based on a good year in 2014 will be the one that really loses.

Of course..that's exactly what he was thinking!
It worked so well he thought he'd motivate Geno by saying "I can’t throw it to myself and catch it, otherwise I would."

Remember when he motivated that chick by hitting her in the mug with a cocktail glass. That was positively uplifting!

He's like the Tony Robbins of the NFL...

Barcs, your posts in general are pretty terrible, but it's when you try to go for sarcasm like this that I want to smash my computer screen

oh quit being such a sissy. YOU need to deal with things in life. this is the biggest pansy comment i have ever seen. almost anyone you know has lost someone to cancer, get over yourself and learn how to deal with your losses. you cant expect the world to stop using the fucking word because you havent learned how to deal with loss.

bottom line is if you get cancer it will eat you up from the inside and the best method to deal with it is to get rid of it. so the analogy fits perfectly. quit getting all butt hurt and being such a victim.

my grandfather died of cancer, and that doesnt change the fact that santonio holmes is a cancer.

Santonio was not a cancer, he had a bad year in 2011 but we didn't lose the last 3 b/c of that. there were LR issues in 2009 & 2010 too but we don't hear about them since they made title games.

he was a malcontent junc, he turned on the team and especially on sanchez. the whole derrick mason thing was in my eyes largely due to holmes. i think they jets got rid of mason simply because they could not get rid of holmes.

he was a good player, he was also a jerk though.

your absolutely correct, just about every team has one of those guys that steps out of hte shadows when the team is losing. personally i would try to avoid those guys if at all possible. and for what tone brings or even brought i didnt think it was necessary to deal with him. it was surely not wise to resign him.

We were 8-5 in 2011, on the verge of making the playoffs. The way he acted in the Eagles and Dolphins game is NO EXCUSE. We weren't a losing team that year.

he was pissed they were missing the playoffs, I'd rather have a guy like that than one who is ok w/ losing.

Damn dude, you make excuses for everyone. We were still in the hunt against the Eagles. He was acting like a complete dick in a must win game

I was talking more about the Miami meltdown, we were already being blown out by Philly when he did the bird celebration.

That was the game that made me really dislike Holmes. The fumble on the 1st drive that was returned for a TD was upsetting but those things happen. The pass that went through his hands and was picked off on the next drive was the killer. The guy is supposedly your #1 WR and play maker and you're down 14-0 in the 1st quarter because he can't catch/hold on to the ball in traffic.

The Fin game was just the icing on the cake.

Holmes has never been a #1 WR. He was always a complementary guy and we just double-visioned him into a difference-making play maker. Then we spent 3 years in the wilderness because your offense just doesn't run right without at least one #1 WR in it.
