Does he have areas to improve - yes who doesn't. Does if have a legit #1 wr? A running back that is a threat out of the backfield catching? A TE that turns around? Saying Sanchez has to improve his ability to make a play when under pressure falls to the rest of the team also. If guys can't get open, can't get away from physical defenders, what do you want from the QB? Personally I want to see more of McKnight catching the ball...i think he could be a security blanket out of the backfield and has the speed to make guys miss. Look at Sproles in NO - 13 catches yesterday -- all dump off passes.
I guess we can add 'not understanding the term under center' to the growing list of suckitudes that our new friend Wolf Brother is compiling.
OH NO! SO IS McELROY! THAT MEANS WE HAVE A THREE WAY QB CONTROVERSY! Piss off. Your team is going to lose this weekend.
I haven't read through all 5 pages, but I'm gonna mention that the OP highlights something I've mentioned a few places: that Sanchez was statistically the worst starting QB in the NFL while under duress. It's the most important hitch in his development and there is no close second.
I don't disagree that the rest of the offense has to get better around Sanchez, but, in my opinion, there are a lot of quarterbacks who would fare pretty well playing with the offensive personnel Sanchez currently has (and has had in the past) at his disposal. Also, does anyone else notice how inaccurate Sanchez is when checking down? It's really odd. He honestly seems to miss as many throws within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage as he does 20+ yards from the line of scrimmage.
Not wrong at all as I have the same feeling. It's a different game if he hauls any of those in. All of those would have kept drives alive and the offense stays on the field longer and they probably don't lose the TOP battle. All of those balls he dropped were accurate throws by Sanchez. It's not like if he had come down with any of those you would have said "great catch". His performance was the one that irked me the most yesterday.
Mark Sanchez is great. When we don’t win its someone else’s fault. Afterall he is only the QB. Today we lost because of too many dropped passes. The poor throws by Mark had NOTHING to do with it. When he over threw the TD – what was he supposed to do. There were rushers! When he threw to players who weren’t looking – that was all their fault. Ya there were some drops…and there were some missed throws. Sometimes great QBs miss TD throws. But what makes them great is they bounce back and don’t miss a second time. This “if only everyone could play perfect Mark would be a great QB” BS just goes on and on and on here. Its true Mark has had worse games but yesterday was not so great. To me yesterday Mark looked like he thought he was Peyton Manning - just standing in the pocket winging the ball around…minus the good throws, decisions or confidence in his abilities.
If Sanchez has a bad day, it results in ints. Sanchez didn't have a good day either, but his receivers gave him zero support. How many times did the receivers drop perfectly thrown passes? I would guess about 8+. That killed about 6 drives easily.
Im not a huge Sanchez supporter at this point. But he DEFINITELY got zero help yesterday. o the original point though, I cant agree more. He has to be bottom 5 QBs against teh blitz. Pathetic
