Yeah I saw Drew Brees have another INT heavy game, and Michael Vick, and Matthew Stafford looked like a joke in San Fran, and Tom Brady was shitty, and Eli Manning tossed 3INTs (should have had 6)....they all suck! Let's go find new elite QBs in the CFL!! Maybe refs that call illegal contact...maybe receivers that can escape that abuse...maybe a tight end that turns around on a hot read....maybe a running back that can catch a ball out of the back field. Face it today was a bad game all around from coaching down. Offense had no flow and didn't adjust to the muggings taking place down the field. On defense they never got physical, played zone, had Harris in coverage for some reason, and couldn't tackle Ben when they had the chance.
Youre clueless. This isnt an assumption based off of todays game. It has been an issue now for 3+ years now. Go back to your blow up Sanchez doll now.
Guy is 4-2 in the playoffs, has a number of 4th quarter comebacks, the guy is a solid QB. Shit look at Eli Manning's numbers his first 4 seasons. Based on your theory Manning would be washing cars in Mississippi right now.
Sanchez is a good NFL QB but as usual people will get on him for things he cant control 1. Run Game non existent- Greene is ass and the staff wont play Powell and McKnight 2. Missing Keller- Keller is ol reliable for Mark, Keller may not be what our offense needs as a #1 TE but him and Dirty have great chemistry. 3. WR's were being mauled all game pass 5 yards, meaning holding on to the ball more meaning a better chance for sacks 4. Play calling was shit to say the least, no down field threats, running too much, no screen plays, etc.... compare Sanchez to Alex Smith, Harbaugh plays to Smith's strengths, Sparano did that in week 1 but Rex and them changed the tune and our O suffered agree, Holmes/Hill/Kerley are a good enough 1-3 for us if Schillens can step up then I like our corps, its not like Green Bay's but it doesnt have to be
With a few punch in the mouth, Brady folds like a cheap tent too. (You saw that today too.) And this is NOT the first time he did that either. (2x Super Bowl, Giants game last year during the season, etc. playoff loss against the Jets a few years ago, etc etc.) Tell me he sucks too.
You're comparing Mark Sanchez to unanimous hall of famers. Your standards are a bit high. When your receivers drop balls in their numbers it's hard to get anything started. He still has that scrambling ability, but when he does scramble, his receivers are not open downfield.
sanchez looks like dog shit...you hold your breath every time he drops back. not exactly what i would expect from someone we drafted that high
He has no receivers right now that are good enough to get the job done. This is one of those earth to Jets fans moments: Santonio Holmes is a thoroughly mediocre receiver. He can make special things happen with a perfectly thrown pass and even occasionally with one that is off but he creates almost no value on his own. Give Holmes to Tom Brady or Peyton Manning and he'd probably be a very good receiver. We don't have either of those guys and he's not good for us. He doesn't do anything that makes his QB better. He relies on his QB to make him better. What a waste of cap space.
Thank you. Sanchez's accuracy was not the question. I think Steelers did a great job defending our receivers. Very tight coverages. However, Holmes dropped about 3-5 catches in such coverage and brought in none worth mentioning. Overall, I think we had about 7-8 drops that should have been caught. Keller was missed. Steelers saw our weakness in the quick passing game with no Keller so the decided to force the Jets in to quick passing. Should have called more screens and slants. I don't recall any screen pass. That would have broken the back of the Steelers D.
Jets need to take the pressure off of Mark and the receivers, by getting a better RB. I like Greene, but I can't see him being the RB to get the job done. Jets need to draft a speedy back, I'm tired of watching Greene run up and NEVER try to make the Guy miss, we need a back who has more energy to get around.
Im starting to agree on that point. Holmes was very mediocre at best today. Seems like every time he dropped a pass, he was asking for a flag. But I think Steelers went to war a a great plan of their own to play physical and blanket all receivers. Tebowcat was not used today besides for a couple of plays. I think Rex wants to use that against Pats or in desperate times. Till then, we might stay away from it. Coming back to the point, I think we should let Holmes go after 2012 season if he doesn't play to his potential (he has great potential, but just hasn't reached it yet). We'll save about 1.25 mil if released after the season. We'll have an extra 10.8 mil to use in 2014 without Holmes. Hopefully Hill and Kerley step it up by the end of the season.
Br4dw4y, I agree 100% with you. Holmes just isn't good for the Jets offense. We need players who help the QB, not rely on them for leading them everywhere, I can't help but think that Holmes isn't trying hard enough when I watch him. He honestly needs to be cut loose, he'd probably be better on the slot but Kerley is fine and a lot cheaper.
Holmes salary next year is guaranteed so the Jets aren't going to cut him. The question is if they can find a buyer for him in the trade market. I'm thinking that's going to be pretty dicey too because his numbers aren't going to be much better than last years and he's due $11.25 million next year. This team just hasn't been put together particularly well. It's got some flashy names and some legitimate stars but the sum of the whole is much less than the parts and the parts are freaking expensive as hell. One of the things that kind of keeps me going is that this is all hitting Woody really hard in the wallet. The whole run from 2008 on has been an enormous investment on his part, and we have to recognize that no owner in football has put more cash on the line from 2008 to 2012 than Woody Johnson. My guess is that another year of mediocre results is about all he can stand at this point and something is going to have to give when the Jets come in 8-8/9-7 again.
Woody should sell the team to the Brooklyn Nets owner then he just sits back and writes checks lets his men handle their business but really you're right we gotta make the playoffs this year, have a good showing, then have a good draft and win the SB in 2014
nyjetscap.com has Holmes numbers incorrectly. Holmes 2013 salary is guaranteed. We will only save 250k in other bonuses (roster or incentives?). And its going to be hell to try to trade him with that salary, unless he's willing to renegotiate (for which he has no incentive to do so). So yeah, we are kinda stuck with him for 2013 at least.
For as critical a bunch as Jets fans can be, I'll never understand why Sanchez gets so, so many excuses. Before our last garbage time drive, we had under 100 total passing yards and 10 points. That is Sanchez's fault. No, he doesn't have Larry Fitzgerald. No, our OL isn't all that great. Yes, we were missing Keller (apparently that's really going to be an excuse). But at the end of the day, if you can't pass the ball at all, and you can't score, the QB doesn't live in some blameless bubble. We played a Steelers team missing arguably their two best defensive players and we got shut down. After the first drive, we barely moved the ball at all. You can point fingers in a lot of directions, but it should begin and end with the quarterback. Anyway, hopefully we do pick up a top 10 RB, a superstar WR, and a few Pro Bowl offensive linemen so Sanchez can one day be held accountable for his play.
Sanchez is 4-2 or the Jets are 4-2? For those 4 wins the Jets put out the superior defense. I'm so tired of this logic where Sanchez carried shit Jet teams for 4 wins in the playoffs because that's what you're implying. If you wanna defend or be a critic talk about Sanchez whole career performance.
Good points. Think the answer you're looking for is in the posts throughout this forum. Sanchez is 4-2 in the playoffs and for many too many posters the problems can't be with him when the team struggles because he's a winning playoff qb. For many others, Sanchez has already done enough in his young career to be blameless for the offense's woes.
