My problem too. Create simple mismatch somewhere (Learn to use Keller, for instance) and keep things simple. Simple enough, right? NOT.
My exact words to my buddies yesterday during the game: "schotty is always trying to outsmart the opponent. With the talent the Jets have...do they really need to be outsmarting the Detroit Lions?" My biggest problem w/ Schotty is indeed the overthinking. In 2006 when we had a weak armed QB,Kevin Barlow at RB, Clement at starting RT and our # 1 WR was Jerricho Cotchery, sure the unique formations/shifts and trickery were necessary to have employ a productive offense. But this isn't 2006 anymore. the talent level of this offense is off the charts. It's time to keep it simple....get everyone lined up and let the playmakers make plays.
I know it's been said, but I would love to see them employ more shotgun, spread offense sets. We have perfect personnel for that. I'm a huge fan of ground and pound, but we are so loaded with weapons on offense, plus the fact that Sanchez seems to like and feel comfortable in the "2 minute offense", it could be very effective if utilized properly.
I agree 100%- It's not like we can't run from that formation, or even better motion LT out to the slot and watch the D panic.
Is it me or does Sanchez just rock in the two-minute drill? I noticed one play late in the Houston game where he changed the play at the line of scrimmage to a run - and LT made a big gain out of it.
I hope that's a rhetorical question because of course we notice. It's been talked about for weeks Now and Sanchez has asked to run it more.
